- Josephine LeeSingapore, Singapore64 contributionsWe booked a driver for 6 h via klook for a direct pickup from hotel ( The driver only contacted us the day before at 3 pm after his trip) . The first stop was at lengshuikeng - a small lake with steam coming out from the surrounding rocks as well as two foot baths.
Next stop was flower clock . We were so blessed to catch the cheery blossoms and flowers in full bloom .
Then there was xiaoyoukeng where you get to see steam bellowing out from the small crater.
We then went for a hike from Lengshuikeng visitor centre to Qingtiangang. The hike was 1.8 km walking on rocky footpaths and climbing many many steps passing a swinging bridge. I would not recommend this hike to those with bad knees .
At Qingtiangang, we were greeted with a fog that reduced visibility to almost zero .
We then proceeded to zhiuzihu to have a traditional chicken lunch but as it was a public holiday , all restaurants were full. So we did not get to try the chicken nor see the calla Lilly’s but our driver brought us to a famous beef noodle restaurant instead near the hotel .
Overall a wonderful trip with Leon as our driver.
Tip: do not go to yangmingshan if it is raining .
This was our third trip and was the only trip where we saw the beauty of this mountain . All the other times , it was fogged up .Written 28 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JuneSingapore, Singapore42 contributionsVery interesting location but I would not recommend going in the summer because its scorching hot! Perhaps winter would be a better period to visit. There are some dainty food shops around the place as well.Written 28 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - IndySigIndianapolis, IN3,842 contributionsWell worth the train ride from New Taipei to this hot springs town. The library is beautifully situated in a beautiful linear park. It’s wooden design just blends beautifully into the landscape.Written 6 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Alex HPort St. Mary, UK1,319 contributionsMy partner and I came here on Chinese New Year’s Day and it was super busy, but this really made us appreciate their culture and it gave a really authentic experience when seeing the temple. Entry is free, and you can take the metro to Guandu station which is about a 20 minute easy walk from the temple. The temple itself is seriously beautiful and one of the prettiest we’ve seen across our trips around Asia. Its architecture and colourfulness is spectacular, and the views you get from the upper parts of the temple are amazing. The whole place makes it a photographers paradise. Highly recommend coming here on your trip to Taipei, at whatever time of year, although I guess that depends on your preference. Usually we like quieter areas with less people, but as it was Chinese New Year’s Day we really enjoyed watching the locals with their incense and carrying out their prayers, as it made the whole experience authentic.Written 23 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SarahKuala Lumpur, Malaysia36 contributionsThe museum is well kept despite being a historical building. I like the central area in the building with tatami mats where we can rest while admiring the view from the balcony. Don't miss the chance to go through the interactive videos on the history of hot spring resorts.Written 14 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jeffry bEssendon, Australia14,153 contributionsBeitou is a hoit springs resort just outside of Taipei. There are many hot springs spas, which have been there since the Japanese colonial era (1895-1945). The Japanese love thermal spas. You will have a lot of spas to choose from. The Japanese-style spas are known as "onsen." Wnen you bathe in an onsen, you do not wear anything. I don't know of any similar hot springs resorts that are naturally heated through the effect of volcanic activity in Taiwan, as far as I know the Beitou resort is unique in TaiwanWritten 30 June 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jeffry bEssendon, Australia14,153 contributionsDuring the Second World War, this former prestigious hotel was an officers' club for the Japanese Imperial Army. It also entertained young kamikaze pilots who had a good time before going to meet their fate. The complex is constructed in Tang Dynasty style. It is well worth a visit; the Museum is one of the best remaining examples of Japanese-era wood-built architecture. By the way, visitors can experience a tea ceremony and sample Kaiseki vegetable fare.Written 13 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BangkokSachseBangkok, Thailand42,344 contributionsWe took bus S9 to Zhuzihu and took bus S9 to Yangmingshan Bus Terminal. We took Bus 260 back to Taipei Main Station at 3 pm. The bus S9 was full. The Calla lily farm was small but beautiful. Most visitors were local. We paid 30 NT each to enter the lily farm. There are flower farms in Zhuzihu. We visited only one farm.Written 21 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jeffry bEssendon, Australia14,153 contributionsSince it was established in 1989, the Dharma Drum Mountain movement has spread the message of Buddhist culture and education world-wide. Master Shen-Yen promoted the construction of the Fagushan Nongshan Temple following the tendency of "Flower in the sky and moon in the water." The temple is built of simple natural materials: concrete, limestone and wood. Construction was completed in 2012.Written 12 April 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jeffry bEssendon, Australia14,153 contributionsThis recreation area is like something out of Hell. It has the acrid stink of sulphur. Fumaroles, boiling ponds and natural hot springs add to the hellish atmosphere.. Xiaoyoukeng Recreation Area is like a natural science experiment that went wrong. This natural volcanic area is a fascinating place to visit for young and old.Written 1 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - IsabelTPETaipei, Taiwan9,009 contributionsAn easy hike from Yang Ming University entrance. Beautiful rocks along the way. Nice view of Taipei up there. Easy trails and full of greens. Kids playing racing car models on the rocks.
從陽明大學入口開始爬,很快就擺脫了都市的喧鬧,一路往上奇石有許多,無論是遠眺對岸山頭或爬到軍艦岩平台,無需過人體力。可一路爬到照明禪寺,很好走。

- Jeffry bEssendon, Australia14,153 contributionsThis quaint wooden structure dates from the Japanese colonial era (1895-1945), when Beitou was famous throughout the Japanese empire for its hot springs. The original Beitou station is right next to the new Xinbeitou MRT Station. The original station, built in 1916, has some dramatic architectural features. The interior features a display of the station's construction, and a gift shop that will appeal to railway aficionados. The original ticket booth has been preserved, and now acts as the gift shop's counter.Written 13 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AnnieSingapore, Singapore262 contributionsThis place looks quite well established. It has many private room on the second level. The bath is quite big, can accommodate two persons. The only flaw is it does not provide moisturiser, so you must bring your own towel and moisturiser cos skin can be tight and dry after soaking in the hotspring.
Although you have half an hour for soaking into the fish pond, but i doubt it is good for our body because the water is cold. Why waste that hot bath?? So the moment i thought of this, i got up after 5 mins of soaking.Written 31 October 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
