- LCAS74Potters Bar, UK115 contributionsAn excellent tour of the east of Madeira, made especially enjoyable by a knowledgeable guide (Patricia), who by the way speaks 6 languages and used 4 of those throughout the tour, as well as an excellent driver. Amazing views even with some cloud cover which seems unpredictable and changes quickly.
Would highly recommend the 3 course meal served with bread, a bottle of wine and any drinks of your choosing offered for 16 euros per person.
A taste of a couple of madeiran rums was included in the visit to the rum distillery.
We took a walk along a 2km trail, mostly flat, to a fantastic view point and you can also buy a shot of passion fruit poncho, best one we had on the island.
Visited the traditional houses of Madeira and took in another great view in Santa cruz.

I could not believe it when our guide said, “We are going to start the ride with a little climb.” I had been off the bike because of winter in Michigan so it was a bit of a challenge. We started down and it was magic. Great variety of surfaces and pitch. - Kathleen C6 contributionsReally enjoyed the tour especially being above the clouds on Pico Arieira. Gabriel was very informative and fun and Renato an excellent driver. The only downside was that as we didn't book the lunch we had two hours to kill in Santana which is a very quiet and uninteresting town.
One hour would have been more than enough.
I appreciate that the people having lunch needed that time so maybe stop in a more interesting town. Each tour was awesome due to Renato‘s most informative comments on Madeiran people, life, agriculture, history, sights, whatever. - Flintstone89Devon, UK126 contributionsExcellent tour all round! Really enjoyed our day with Madeira Island Tours visiting various spots on the East tour. Santana and the a-framed houses were a highlight, as well as the lovely lunch arranged by our guide. We also found the rum factory interesting and loved the village stop for a tasty hot chocolate and custard tart! We didn't have the best weather in March - it was quite changeable and so the forest stop and Pico de Areilo were disappointing but that's not the fault of our guide or the company. Safe driving, friendly driver with lots of stories and knowledge of the island. Would recommned! - 57arthurSwindon23 contributionsWe have used Viator/Tripadvisor small group tours on many holidays, always excellent, and the ultimate 2 day tour was for us the ultimate tour
I would recommend anyone taking this tour to have Renato Rodrigues as their driver/tour guide, because he gave us 2 interesting and memorable days. His extensive knowledge of the island and his way of interacting with his passengers meant that he was always able to answer our numerous questions, and we returned home with a much greater knowledge of Madeira even though we had made previous visits.
If we had to choose, we preferred the West tour as the weather was better, but we enjoyed the East side as well.

Pickup exactly as described and a very knowledgeable driver/guide (Alberto). A well crafted whole day out, learned a lot about the island and saw some amazing sights. - Pauline BSittingbourne, UK476 contributionsBooked via what’s app so easy and arrangements to pick up tickets at hotel as well as paying. The East tour we were picked up as a small group at the hotel and had a knowledgeable guide who spoke several languages. Almthough lunch was not included a deal with as made at the hotel in Santana for those that wanted it. The tour was great enjoyed it better than the west tour was great that all the fruits were pointed out as we drove around and the views were stunning. The second trip through no fault of the tour operator was a nightmare as the wrong company (there fault) picked us up in error. However apologies were received and offers of another more expensive trip was offered to us even though not our tour operators error.
