Its been twice I visited Jog falls ( 2019 Dec and 2021 Nov ) . In Winter it might not be the best time to visit . And both the time unfortunately not able to get down via stairs . I just only could view the falls.
Timings : I think its between 8AM to 4.45 pm ~ ( In Dec I was stopped entering down because the guard said it take almost an hour to climb down and 1 hour to climb up again so they stop entry around 4.45pm )
you can still allowed to see the view

On the way to Kodachadri from Sigandur, we stopped by a small hotel as we were very hungry. The name of the hotel is HOTEL KRISHNA BHAVAN. If you expect ambience, skip this place... if you want to enjoy eating great food, please have fish meals here. The food was just awesomeee served by a humble owner of this place.

Nice location. We visited this place during our stay at Jungle Lodges and Resorts,Sakrebyle Elephant Camp.It was very special experience to watch bathing the Elephants. Surrounded by Tunga reservoir backwaters and lush greenery. Small souvenir shop available in the camp.
Worth to visit the Camp when you are in Shimoga.

After darshana of Sri Sharadamba at Sringeri, we decided to go to Kundadri hills. It's about 28km from Sringeri. Last 8 km it's tough driving as climbing steep hills and sharp U turns. Somehow I managed to drive up with four people in the small car. You walk up about 75 steps after parking the car.
There is a Jain Basadi (Temple) and a priest will be happy to explain about the history of the place.
There is a pond with water on the rocks. The view is beautiful.

This place is not that great, could not spend lot of time here. May be we have to visit after rainy season so that there is sufficient water flow. Back side of the dam has boating and you can spend some time, if the water flow is less then you can get down in the water.

It is within city limits. A half-a-day plan is a good visit. Right now, over half a dozen, tigers and lions are sighted during safari. The safari drive would be about 30 mins. The park has plans to expand.

Don’t miss the Suspension bridge over the Sharavati river on the way to Murudeshwar from Jog falls, Shimoga! You can plan for a short break here and enjoy a motorboat ride along with the spectacular view of the river from the hanging bridge. The motorboat operator charges INR 100/head.

It was one of the most memorable trip that I ever had. The best part of the trip was the Jeep ride from down to the top. The jeep drivers are real expert drivers and one should never miss this ride. You will have to bargain for the rate other wise they will loot you like anything. Also trekking can be done, which is a tiresome activity. You will have to carry enough water and food with you as there is no shop in the top.

Located 8km from the town of Sagara and 90 minutes drive from Shimoga, Karnataka, this is a lovely 16th century temple built during the reign of Nayaka chieftains of Keladi. While the temple does not boast of architectural grandeur, the stone sculptures are superb.

One can stay at Shimoga and do this as a day trip (along with Aghoreshvara temple at Ikkeri, which is about 15 km from this temple). Or one can choose to stay at one of the several homestay options in the region. We stayed at a real nice homestay called Ajjana mane. And from this homestay, one can access a several sightseeing places - the 16th century Rameshwara temple, Keladi is 30 minutes drive; the 16th century Aghoreshvara temple, Ikkeri is 30 minutes drive; the 11th century Kedareshvara temple, Balligavi is 90 minutes drive; Jog falls is 30 minutes drive.

You will see reservoir and dam gates on all dams. It is same here too. You can view from outside but need permission to go till dam gates.

Looking at the remnants one can come to know that the fort and the history are being neglected by the government.

It's a beautiful waterfall amidst lush green paddy fields. The entry fee of 100/- is too high and not justified. From the parking it is an easy trek to the first level of the falls.
No place to change, so plan accordingly.
