What travellers are saying
- Fearless451293115311 contributionIf you go to Jeonju, you must visit Jeonju Hanok Village. The whole village is a low-rise Hanok village, which is perfect for feeling the Korean atmosphere. There are a variety of street foods and many well-prepared Korean traditional dishes, so you can enjoy delicious trips. The best experience was a half-day Hanbok experience. There are several Hanbok rental shops, so please look around and try on pretty Hanboks that you like. I also recommend you to visit Gyeonggijeon Shrine, which is a great place to take many photos. To feel the beauty of Korea, Jeonju Hanok Village is perfect.Written 19 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Karen MKirkwall, UK1,357 contributionsThis area of quiet in the busy village is nice to wander around. The buildings are from the Joseon dynasty & are enclosed by a surrounding wall. The gate way leads to the main buildings with smaller court yards & buildings off.
The area also has the Royal portrait museum (covering the key portrait of King Taejo)Written 14 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MH0202London, UK1,942 contributionsSituated on the hill accessible via Hanok village. Beautiful views over Hanok village. Serene surroundings with the tall trees.
Worth climbing the hill.Written 27 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I recommend you to see it in person because it's much grander than the picture. Near the church, there is a Hanok Village. It's good to go sightseeing with Hanok Village, Southern Market, and Gyeonggijeon. As the title says, it's a good place to go at lesat once. :)Written 28 May 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Liz SHanoi, Vietnam326 contributionsI visited the park 15 years ago, it hasn't changed a great deal over the years, but it is just as peaceful as it has always been. When Korea hosted the soccer world cup Deokjin set up big screens so that the local people could gather together, Deokjin is still very much a local park.Written 6 October 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jason DavisHwaseong, South Korea21 contributionsThis is a great hike that is very close to Jeonju. I take my dog there and she loves to get to the top! There are different routes to take for different types of hikers. One of the hikes starts at Geumsansa Temple, and that is a beautiful temple if you want to spend more time in the mountains.Written 17 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - kai22oMelbourne, Australia7 contributionsFood is yummy, but it's a pretty small market and got very busy from 6pm! Worth going to if you're in Jeonju.Written 23 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- macedonboyGlasgow, UK1,86,190 contributionsThis old city gate was first built in the 18th century as the southern gate of the city walls, and also the only remaining one of four that existed. The gate now stands on a roundabout just outside of the Jeonju Hanok Village area. The stout stone walls are a testimony to its function as a defensive structure. It also has walls behind the entrance gate, which would no doubt form a useful killing zone or just an area to trap enemy soldiers. The attractive person of the gate sits above the walls and is a typical tower in Korean style of architecture, two subsidiary towers flank the central tower, but the same design, just smaller. A beautiful landmark.Written 17 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- tracy1 contributionHakindang is beautiful classic Korean-style guesthouse. Stayed in the separate 2 bedroom suite which was perfect for my group of 5 friends. Although not used to sleeping on the hard floors, Korean-style bedding was pretty comfortable. Owner gave us tea serving demo, tour of the house and shared history and he even gave us an hour long photo session. Great memories to keep forever~~I would recommend Jeon Ju Korean village to anyone interested in the culture and absolutely recommend Hakindang for accommodation.Written 7 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
