The castle has 2 parts. In the more restored part there was an exhibition about the eastern roman empire, and its connections to western europe. This exhibition was interesting and we all learned a lot of new things. Just keep in mind that its a...More

We visited this exhibition with two inquisitive teens and we all loved it. Excellent descriptions in German and English, “workbook” for kids, activity cards, activity stations. Can highly recommend, even to people who aren’t history buffs because it does a very good job of explaining...More

Schallaburg Castle is not really interesting or might be interested in a few rocky stones. However the castle has in 2017 a exposition on the Islam. You do not expect this, when interested in visiting a castle. The exposition however was quiet interesting.

We visited the exhibition just before it ends. Sadly it was rather disappointing. I am not sure what I had expected but it was quite politically oriented and not so much of the flower power era I had thought. The audio guide was rather confusing...More

The building is interesting, but the '70s exhibition dominated the place. There was no information about the building at all. With so much to see in the area, I'd give this a miss.

For people like us with very limited German we tried to use their app to get more information about what we were looking at. Sadly it didn't work very well and kept failing. The dialogue is also too long for each point when it does...More

It's a quite popular hotpot. There is pop music performance in centre of the old building where the restaurant is. We watched the interesting 1970’s exhibition. Actually, what impressed us is the well organized garden which can be ideal for dating.

The castle is interesting but not spectacular; however, the Viking Exhibition was excellent. The exhibition provided a thorough introduction to the Vikings, including not only their raiding, but also a glimpse into their life in Scandinavia.
