The river flows in a beautiful valley, while hike you will cross the river couple of times. It was a dry season, wonder how much water there is after rain.

Great walk at a crystal clean river. Water temperature, even at the end of summer, around 16 degrees Celsius, so be prepared to be chilled.

This turbulent mountain river flows through one of the most picturesque gorges of Greece. The most interesting and accessible site is located between the villages of Stemnitsa and Dimitsana and is believed to stretch for 12.5 kilometers. Along the river, the famous haiking "Menalon trail" is laid, descending close to the river in several places, including bridges thrown over the river to facilitate access to the ruins of ancient Gortis and also to the two monasteries of the Philosophou - the old and the "new". In the second case, the bridge hangs over a kind of stone "well", at the bottom of which the water falling from the top forms a whirlpool.

Lousios is a small, twenty-three-kilometer long river that flows from the plateau of Karkalous and flows into the area of Karytaina. According to tradition, Zeus was "washed away" by the nymphs when he was born. After the area of Ancient Gortys is called Gorthyios, taking its name from it. Its waters keep the same temperature winter in summer

Wonderful wooded walk with monasteries and ancient sites along the fast flowing river. Easier route is downhill from Dimitsana - and ideally getting a taxi back.

You can relax and listen the sound of streaming water and many nature sounds, that calm the human mind! Wonderful experience.
You can also take off your shoes and feel the freezing river, or in the summer to dive in!

Please visit Lousios river! The surrounding is magnificent! We crossed the river by rafting with the guides of peripeteia.com. The water in late spring, was cool enough, not dangerous at all, green trees and blue butterflies everywhere! It was an experience I will remember for ever!

Good morning! I don't know if you should reserve the rafting in advance because I went with a group and the leader of the group made all the arrangements. I believe though that it's better if you called first just to be sure.
I 'be seen some children there and I think that this time of season the river is not dangerous. But if you call they will give you all the answers. Communicate with them to peripeteia.gr. Have fun!!!
