An excellent example of an abandoned gem: a hot water spring with a hot water stream running downhill. It is very easily accessible by car or on foot, across the Leonidas statue. A part of the hot stream has been arranged into successive natural pools. There are no amenities or services, one can simply park by and jump into the water in the open air. The temperature at that spot was around 37 degrees, I suppose it is a little bit hotter upstream. There were a few people when we visited, and a couple of caravans parked at the side. Children loved it, as it was a sunny January day. We have read many comments about the place being rundown. It was very plain, that is true, but not dirty.

Great waterfall (and a pool 100 meters aside) of H2S and hot water! (Approximately 40 deg Celsius).
Fun for cold and rainy days.

Amazing natural thermal springs all around the area (nearby the Leonidas statues and battlefield of Thermopylae). A true hidden gem!
Relatively easy to find and especially notice in colder days due to big amounts of steam seen from distance.

The water has around 45 degrees Celsius and it very good for your health.

People can basically jump into the water all over the place.
Just an amazing experience to jump in such warm water out in the nature (especially in December).

We met Kostas around 3pm..He welcomed us with a biig smile in his face..We went to the location by car. Our trip started from SKA suburban station. Two and a half hours later we where at this magnificent spot in the Greek mainland..natural hot springs around 40C with a waterfall in the middle coming out from the forest..We had our bath there and it was amazing..It was the time that the sun is going down and the tranquillity of the moment took me over.. It is said that Hercules was taking his bath regularly in this sacred spring..Only thing that can be annoying for someone there is the smell of sulfur comes out the earth. After our bath we went to the monument of Leonidas and the Three Hundred Spartans, the battle from the film happened there, only one klm away from the hot springs. we started our way back at around 7 pm and at around nine thirty we where back to Athens. A fantastic daily trip we suggest to everyone that wants to see a bit of the Greek mainland and loves hot springs..

Great place to visit after touring the ancient site just down the road.

I spent over an hour bathing in the hot springs and loved it. Just be prepared for
the pungent smell of the sulphur as you approach the springs:)
