One would never go to Vicuña just see this tower. However, it is a local landmark and it was both the courthouse for the town and the old city hall. It's easy to find as it is the tallest thing around.

The Tower appears to have had some very minor renovations or paint face lift. Albeit it definitely is a defining landmark of Vicuna, specifically for one corner of the Plaza. It height alone makes it a prominent feature. The history / background I mentioned several years ago in a Review.

This is not a destination site, but a must do in Vicuna. It is free to enter, only the bottom floor is accessible.

Interesting landmark in Vicuna, Chile. Worth the stop to learn the history of this landmark. Original court house for the town, and has been restored as much as possible. Has wallpaper that was brought from France in the 1800's.

Interesting background in that it is based upon some tower(s) in Ulm Germany. The doings of a former Mayor of German background. Today it is the site of the Tourist Imformation Office at one. Order of the Plaza. Count the relevant buildings, of which this is one in the 4 corners of the Plaza. Interesting to note.

It's different, it was designed by a German born man whose name rhymes with tower in English and we took photos of it.

The Bauer Tower, was constructed by a former mayor Adolfo Bauer and named for him. It's considered to be a traditional symbol of Vicuña however we thought it didn't fit in with the rest of the town's architecture - the turreted tower and fine wood construction does make for a great photo!

Modelled on a group of towers from the German city of Ulm, it's now home to the Municipal Tourist Office, which provides information to visitors about the region.

Enjoy your visit!
