The monastery is located in Tashi Jong village, which is a small rural area situated between Paprola and Taragarh. It is home to the Drugpa Kagyu tradition of Buddhism, established by 8th Khamtrul Rinpoche, Dongyu Nyima. The monastery complex houses the main temple, the stupa of Khamtrul Rinpoche, and the Yamantak Retreat Center which is restricted to the general public. Designed by Khamtrul Rinpoche, the entire building is adorned with woodcarving, gilding and painting.

This is not on the normal tourist map but a well maintained (and less crowded) monastery. Must visit if you are around

About 15 mins drive from the main palampur town. Jus like the other monasteries in the area the use of colors is brilliant. The peace in the compound is amazing. So you need to pay a visit to add color & peace to your life.

Peaceful and serene... Photographer's delight... We went in the afternoon when the main doors were closed but we were asked to enter from the side and given a tour of the inner hall, its many artefacts, idols, carvings, paintings etc. The colors of the entire place are very vibrant (too much so) and appear to have been recently washed.
The monastery is within an enclosed small area of living that has a school and college., souvenir shops, basic eating joint and other facilities.

Tashi jong is a village around 14 kms from Palampur on the way to Brijnath temple. The village is the first ' no smoke' village as declared by the HP Goverment. The village is mainly settled by the Tibetians. The Toshi Jong monestary is a nice and clean monestary.

We had a nice walk to the monastry. It may not be very grand and big but certainly with lots of value and significance to it.

Well,it wasnot just a trip with my friends but something that rejuvenated my soul when i stepped into that place. The place,Tashi jong, residing in the Dhauladhar range of Himalayas in Palampur was no lesser than an experiance of upliftment for me.The air had a quality over there. It was a small Tibetian village uphill. When i got there,it seemed like I left my worries downhill.I felt a sense of mindlessness and was completely light which i felt first in my deep breaths. I spend some time there and i was just breathing and still and joyous. Even breathing was a delight. I had some chinese stuff and after spending quality time i got down. But i'll surely admit that i wish to go there again and spend some time with myself alone to ponder over my life.I tell you it's the best place for retrospection. The magnetism in that place could not just be explained in words. It was something beyond mind, beyond words.

Home to the Drugpa kagyu tradition of Buddhism, this monastery is one of the schools of Kagyu tradition. The monastery complex houses the main temple, the stupa of Rinpoche and we were fortunate to attend a chanting session of the monks who presided inside the sanctum in their colorful robes and ceremonies.
