We had a fantastic week at REGUA at the end of June. We were so impressed with everything about the reserve and amazed at the amount and variety of wildlife that we were able to see. The hospitality of Thomas and all the staff at the Pousada really helped to make the perfect week. The Pousada is a perfect base... More

Regua was the destination for my 60th birthday birding trip and I could not have chosen a better area to bird in. From our arrival, to our reluctant departure, the whole week was a joy. We were met by Alcenir at the airport and we were soon driving out of Rio, at the start of our first visit to Brazil.... More

Spent thirteen nights at this wonderful place - for more than half of the stay we were the only guests. A five star guest house and nature reserve all to ourselves!! We were picked up from our Rio de Janeiro hotel by the ever joyful and sharp eyed Alcenir for the two hour drive into the rainforest area, stopping to... More

We really just had a flying visit, staying just two days and one night at this wonderful lodge. With the help of our great volunteer guide, a teacher from England on sabbatical, we watched many beautiful and rare birds of the Atlantic rainforest round the lakes on the first day, then the highlight of the trip on the second day,... Wonderful birds but they are difficult to see as usual with forest birds, so I recommend taking a guide.

I stayed at Reserva Ecologica de Guapiacu or Regua for short ,for a week in September. The reserve is the brainchild of Nicholas and Raquel Locke ,they have reverted a a vast area of farmland ,back into rainforest and a beautiful wetland. Many years of replanting and shear hard graft have transformed the landscape .The reserve is now home to a... We have just come back from a four day bird watching trip at the REGUA rain forest reserve and would highly recommend it for anyone wishing to genuinely experience the Atlantic Rain Forest without the distractions of urban life! Whilst most birders in the area will be well acquainted with the establishment , the excellent guides and huge list including... More

Regua is an amazing place, set in the remnants of the South Atlantic Rain Forest Regua is protecting and expanding this forest and the flora and fauna it contains. You can choose to visit to see the 400+ bird species on guided walks and take advantage of the off-site trips. You can wander the paths on your own and immerse... More

Many people coming to Brazil are hoping to see the "tropical jungle". While there is the Tijuca National Park in the middle of the city of Rio de Janeiro, to really experience the Atlantic Rain Forest (Mata Atlantica) you have to go a little outside the city to REGUA - a lodge in the foothills of the Orgãos (Organpipe) Mountains.... We all talk about doing something to save the planet - and here there are people doing just that, by replanting the Brazilian coastal forests. And by staying here, you are helping them in their work. The accommodation is basic but one wouldn't expect anything more. The food is delicious and the staff are friendly. We had a good walk... More
