Very bad experience. I visited Shree Banke Bihari Ji temple on 30.7.2022 for the first time at the age of 55, but had a very bad experience. There was no rule of law. Everything was mismanaged by Pujari. One old aged main pujari sitting on chair on podium with a stick was threatening devotees of Police action. Very strange. Another young pujari with beard in white dress was abusing devotees. Devotees are visiting from all corners of India, but this treatment is really shocking. Perhaps management is still in the hands of Pujaris. Streets are very narrow and chances of stampede are very much during rush hours. I request Central as well as State Government to immediately form a trust for its management. A planned corridor should be planned on the lines of Varanasi.

Hope for an early action by Government to maintain the sanctity of this holy place.

May Lord Krishna improve the arrangements through Government.

We had arranged for a tour of india from our home country in Singapore. We expected our guide to bring us to Banke Bihari temple instead he brought as to 2 places saying that this a widow society that the Banke Bihari temple has adopted and then proceeded to bring us to small temple that was practically empty at the back of some street.

Once we went in the priest opened the curtain to reveal the idols of Radhe Krishna and he went on to utter complete rubbish that it’s yashodha’s birthday today and it’s a Great day to donate to the widows, and that the widows would chant in our name. He said they were government established temple and we would get a receipt and that they accepted foreign currency donations.

Donation amounts were fixed at 3999, 9999 and 21000. They went on to write the receipt even before we agreed to anything. Being just me and my mother and we couldn’t speak a word of Hindi, we decided to just pay the money and leave the place for our own safety , however we did not have any cash on us and we asked if we could use our card to pay they brought their machine and thank god the machine didn’t read my card , but they still insisted that we make payment at a nearby stall which will have the ability to accept international cards, thank god it didn’t work as well.
The guide however asked us if we would like to try and other shops to make payments, and finally I came across a TripAdvisor review that mentioned the same story as mine and I told the guide this is a scam and I’m not going to proceed, to which the guide replied that he never forced me to make payment. The whole point of a tour guide is to help tourist navigate through such scams but ours just made us walk right into one with no remorse.

I had gone to vrindavan with so much excitement to walk on the same ground as Shri Krishna did but unfortunately many crooks are walking the same ground :(

Banke Bihari temple, is amongst the holiest and famous temples of Krishna in World. This temple was established by Swami Haridas. Once on the request of his disciples Swami Haridas ji Sang Bajan for Lord Krishna blessings. On singing the verse, Radha Krishna appeared in front of him and his devotees. on the request of Haridas ji the couple merged into one and the idol of Banke Bihari appeared there. till 1863 the Idol of Banke Bihari was worshipped in Nidhivan and in the year 1864, the present seeing Banke Bihari Ji temple was built and Idol shifted to this temple. Since then Devotees are Praying lord in this temple. This temple is constructed in Rajasthan Architecture style. It is a very divine place and thousands of devotees visits this temple daily.

Uniqueness of this temple:

1. This temple got its name because Krishna appears here in a tri-bend posture.
In the phrase Bankey Bihari, the term Bankey means bent at three places and Bihari refers the Supreme Enjoyer.

2. There are no bells in this temple as Swami Haridas used to treat Bihari Ji as a Child who should not disturbed by ringing bells.

3. Unlike other Hindu temples, this temple doesn't observe Mangal/Morning Aarti here as devotees believes that Bihari Ji tired after dancing with Gopika's in the night and should not be disturbed in his morning sleep.

4. The highlight of Banke Bihari Mandir is the Darshan. The curtain of the altar closes every 15-30 seconds as the locals mention that if one views the deity of Bihari Ji for a longer time, they can get hypnotized and get mad in Prema-rasa. Others say that Thakur Ji goes with the person who looks at Him with love, and hence to prevent the deities from going away, they close the curtain every 30 seconds.

5. Bihari Ji is worshipped in a different way, classifying the services into three parts, Shringar, Rajbhog and Shayan. During Shringar, the lord is bathed, dressed and decorated with Jewelry. In the forenoon, Bihari Ji is offered Rajbhog, which is a feast including the best delicacies. The third Seva is known as Shayan. In this service Bihari Ji made to Sleep.

Tips to Follow:
1. Parking is as Issue here:
Located in very busy market area and the streets are very narrow. There is no parking place hence if you are coming in your own vehicle then you need to park vehicle at some distance and then you have to walk to the temple for Darshan

2. Be careful with Monkeys:
Vrindavan place is heavily populated with monkeys and their unity would amaze you. If you tease a single monkey, then the entire gang of monkeys will come to his rescue. Don't consider monkeys as fun there and do not tease them by any means. you will sure be in trouble if you do So. Don't wear Glasses and don't carry any bottles and cool drinks. For sure Monkeys will trouble you. They are very crazy about Sun glasses and Specs. if they notice you wearing one, they would come and snatch them to wear themselves. No matter how weak your eyesight is, please avoid wearing specs. if you have to wear then be careful.

Temple timings:
Morning 07:45-12:00 Evening 05:30-09:30 during Summer period
Morning 08:45-01:00 Evening 04:30-08:30 during Winter period

old con going for at least 15 yrs. the con artists are tourist guides, local priests vendors. the place where I was conned is the so called 'Bank Bihari temple in the house of Nand baba in Brindavan very near the 'Nidhivan' site- huge empty hall with the walls paved with marble slabs of people who have supposedly donated to the temple, huge plaster of Paris statues, a 'ridiculous' buried statue with arms jutting out of earth from under the roots of a tree in the foreground.
THE CON begins by the guide talking of charity that is the sole custodian of cows, widows and old brahmin priests. you are made to sit close to the altar of a big hall inside where the young priest takes over. He puts on the pressure for you to select one of 3-4 options. You are asked to contribute for the upkeep of the cows ,widows or old established families (the real gopi families that have come down generations) for 3 m, 12 m or life long for large sums of money. payment is extracted immediately from your card , bank transfer or cash and a receipt given.name of ' shri brijvihari' trust
later, you realise money has been transferred to a Pvt account and not to the trust named on the receipt. I believe the trust is a phony trust as well.
I fear that for this to operate successfully for so long , possibly local police administration and politicians are all implicated. It pains one to realise that this holy place is infested with conmen
do not give money . give food to the hungry instead.

We were lucky to celebrate Holi in Vrindavan. The temple has a divine aura and we loved our visit. It was extremely crowded but we women were very happy to note that the crowds were well behaved, despite the festivities.

Visit this temple after Holi in March 2022. Over crowded. People were pushed around including small kids. Difficult to see idols as you are not allowed to come from front.
Better to park. Your car and take battery rickshaw.

- We visited Banke Bihari temple in Jan. 2022.
- Banke Bihari temple is built with nice architectural theme.
- Your trip to Vrindavan will remain incomplete if you will not visit this temple.
- This is known as the original Lord Krishna temple where Krishna ji spent their childhood.
- Better to visit this temple by battery operated rickshaw because car parking is not available near the temple.
- There are number of food joints around this temple and a must try, I will post some of the pictures of food which we had.
- Stay away from monkeys, especially if you are wearing glasses or holding something in your hand. You can not save your glasses from them.

Visited first time in the life last year. No need to tell that the place has the divine energy. You can't resist yourself by saying "Radhey Radhey". Problem of the place is that there are lot of monkeys and they are always try to snatch your spectacles so you need to be extra careful, though they not snatch any food items. That's little strange. Overall good experience to visit.

Banke Bihari, the consciousness, the eternal love of all Krishna devotees. There is a feeling, a connection to this place which is very peaceful and calming.

The roads are bit confusing and you better take help of battery vehicles available. The food around the place is yummy.

Lords bal roop, child avatar. One darshan does not feel enough but have to make way for other devotees. This is Krishna's land, his temple and everything even the people are his and only his.
