Monteverde Costa Rica is one of the best areas where you will have the chance to learn about the cultivation and the processes, of how an authentic coffee that was used as far back as our grandparent’s generation is made. The tour was developed in an environment that stands out as one of the best in our culture and tradition; a tradition that has made this country one of progress and peace. The tour lasts for about 2 hours and it includes typical snacks and the option of an authentic home-made lunch.

Great tour! Actually one of our favorites we did (and we almost skipped it!). Guide was knowledgeable and funny, and took us through the coffee, chocolate and sugar cane processes. I thought I knew a lot about coffee, but boy was I wrong! Also got to see a sloth and birds while walking around, and met Don Juan himself! The... More

Our tour started off with and introduction to Krystel, our tour guide, who was very friendly and funny. She showed us all of the inner workings of their plantation and how the coffee bean is cultivated and turned into that lovely drink people go wild for. For me, the most interesting portion was learning about the cocoa bean. She made... More

I love when my expectations are wildly exceeded. First off, our guide was fantastic. Impeccable English, even on technical and biological terms, and knew the business inside and out. For the tour itself roughly 65% is on making coffee and you'll follow the life of a coffee bean from seed to cup, much of it hands on. You'll pound beans,... More

Love the tour! We had a nice friendly tour guide who is very knowledgeable about the products. Have a great time learning about coffee beans, cocoa fruits, n tasting goodies after a nice lunch there. Had a pleasure of meeting the owner n taking pictures with him. Such a friendly gentleman! Reasonable n affordable prices for coffees n chocolates!

This tour was part of a larger excursion we took to Monteverde during our stay in Costa Rica. It is not something that I may have selected had it not been included, however we were so pleased with all the information we received during our time there. Our guide Junior was very engaging and I felt that he really aimed... More

Went in with a tour group with low expectations but we were very surprised. Our meal was good but our guide Junior was even better. Tour group "Charlee" as we were labeled learned all about the growing and making of coffee, chocolate, and sugar cane. Don Juan greeted us during our walkabout of his beautiful farm but Junior stole the... More

I am not a coffee drinker but have started drinking this Costa Rican coffee on Sundays. My husband and I took this tour which provides a lot of history on Costa Rica and the Coffee, Cacao and Sugar Cane of the country. We took a pleasant walk through the coffee fields and stopped to make some pure sugar cane juice.... More

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the guided evening Don Juan Coffee tour. The tour provided a great introduction and over view of the entire coffee growing, harvesting, roasting, and brewing process. We had an opportunity to see the plants, learn about the growing process, and the importance of the other plants and the weather to the success of the... More

Did this tour with husband and our two teens. Surprised at how educational it was and how much we didn't know before the tour about coffee and cocoa beans. Guide was Krystel, who was very, very good. Super personable and entertaining. The tour goes through coffee plant growing to bean processing to coffee roasting. Info about different quality beans/coffee and... More

We did the coffee, chocolate, sugar cane tour. It was a nice way to spend our afternoon and the guide was entertaining. I will say I found the per person cost a bit on the higher side, that's the only thing that would deter me from doing this again.
