My friend had pre-booked this tour which started at 11am on a Tuesday. There were only 4 of us on the tour but our guide told us that during the summer, many more people visit the Castle by coach etc. The Tour lasted for 2 hours, and we were given a comprehensive tour of those areas that were open to... We spent three and a half hours getting from Berlin to Colditz made easier from trip advisor reviews We were shocked that 3 people in Leipzig knew nothing about this famous castle. When travelling by bus don't panic if the bus veers off course. The driver is just doing the run. The town of Colditz is nice but seems bemused... More

A visit to Colditz has been a top 5 destination ever since I was a kid and so making a 300 mile round trip drive in a day from Berlin was the easiest decision to make. Entering the town from the Grimma direction and the sight of the castle on the hill overlooking the town was, what can I say,... More

Ever since I was a young boy and watched the TV series Colditz, I had wanted to visit the Colditz Castle. We had an English speaking guide who was very good and answered any questions that were raised during the two hour tour. To see where war hero's such as Pat Reed were imprisoned was truely amazing.

I had visited Colditz Castle two years earlier but how it has improved since then. We took the extended 2-hour tour in English, with the excellent Steffi as our private guide. Why more people don't visit is a mystery to me. The tour focuses almost exclusively on the Castle's wartime use as a POW camp for elite officers, although brief... More

Spent a very enjoyable day at Colditz today, very informative and such a fabulous building, nestled in the countryside in the beauftiful village of the same name. Stunning scenery.

I could wax lyrical for hours about the Castle, the museum and the tour. But it's pointless and I'd ruin it for you. All you need to know is that the extended tour - two hours - is worth every cent and more of the €18 entry. The brass neck and ingenuity of the prisoners is to behold and seeing... More

A one-day, organised trip to Colditz Castle was the highlight of a week's holiday. The castle has been carefully restored and, if you are interested in the period as a prisoner of war camp, i.e. Oflag 4C, you will have a better experience if you read The Colditz Story and the Latter Days, by PR Reid. Walking up the path... More

Don't hesitate to visit, but take the tour with Steffi ! 2 hours long E20 includes entrance to the museum. My second visit and learnt more about the intrepid pows this time. I would go again! I took my dad who now has to use a walking stick and parts of the tour were "tricky" for him, but he made... More

This place is amazing. I have brought a coach party of 50 people with me. The tour is in English thankfully, it was an excellent morning, Free parking for coaches, there is also free parking for cars but its not clearly signed. This is an excellent 2 hour trip for anyone who loves history and WW. Bring a packed lunch... More
