Four of us rowed here from Dedham, drifting along the Stour in late spring sunshine, willows brushing the water, cattle coming down the low banks to drink, swans with their cygnets, rabbits jumping around the meadows--well, the whole Wind in the Willows experience, with the...More

This is a lovely place, we spent several hours walking along the river and admiring the views and wildlife. The mill itself is very picturesque and a nice place to relax.

We visited on a nice warm sunny day which showed the sights of to their best advantage. Probably not the best place to visit in wet weather as everything is outside. The views are of course brilliant and easy to relate to the famous paintings....More

Just an amazing experience. Visited the Mill and Willie Lott's Cottage early one morning before anyone was about and was emotionally moved by the timelessness of the place. We were blessed with a magical warm sunny morning and were able to walk down the banks...More

Decided to go here, as not been before, and my partner hadn't been for 20+ years. This is a gorgeous place, and the walks along the river, and over the fields are lovely, just to get away from it all. The tea room, is sublime!...More

Stayed here for a few days, staff were great.... shoutout to simon, he's the best, very passionate and knowledgeable about his field (pardon the pun) of work . Good food, loved the lemon meringue pie!

Although the familiar scenes are different from Constable's time, they are still very recognisable and this is a very pleasant place to while away a couple of hours - don't forget to take your camera. Constable never lived here but there is a cottage furnished...More

I visited the Mill in my capacity as Tour Manager with a group of senior citizens and can only say that the experience was excellent. We were very well looked after, and the buggy service up and down the hill to the Mill was first...More

Visited Flatford Mill with the family and we had great fun on the river. The boat hire was very cheap, you gave the guy £10 and if you were back within 30 minutes you got £5 back or if you were back in under an...More

We visited Flatford Mill while travelling back from a week's break in Norfolk / Suffolk. We were aware of it being in the heart of "Constable Country" and in particular his numerous landscape paintings of Dedham Vale. Plus it's only a few minutes drive off...More

Hi - a group of about 10 people are coming along to visit on Monday 21 March. 2 questions please: - is there a guided tour we could book and if so, how much per person is it? - will the restaurant be open for lunch, as I notice it doesn't open on a Monday earlier in the year? Thanks

Can I reach The Mill and Granary by bus. I can get to Chelmsford but would be lost after that.

I would go to Dedham. It is a lovely walk along the river to Flatford. You just need to walk out of the town a little. Stroll along the path beside the river and you will get to the mill. Good luck and have a wonderful day!
