Madu River is a wetland, near the Small town "Balapitiya" along the Colombo Galle highway. This is the point where the Estuary of the Madu river. The river flows through a terrain where it creates a large number of islands, and the eco system creates a beautiful wetland. The hotels around provide boat rids through the canals created at a good cost. And there are loads of places to stay, dine and wine.

Must say this was a unique experience. Huge madu river. We were on a speed boat. Long tour I guess it too 1.5 hours to complete. Fish spa on the river itself. Shopping for coconut water in the river was unique. Cinnamon island was good....More

A small but wonderful island country. This trip was magical - dozens of islands to visit watching cinnamon farming, Buddhist temples, farming enclaves and sighting monkeys, snakes, birds and even a crocodile. Relaxing and refreshing trip.

Peaceful afternoon spent exploring the river by boat. A most for any keen birdwatcher. Lots of small islands, remote temples.

Went here late afternoon... The place is touristy with people ready to rip you off. Go here if have had enough of the beautiful Bentota beach. There are a few operators that are quite expensive. The rationale is that they have insurance, life jackets, etc....More

Madu river is in Balapitiya which is abt 2 hrs from Colombo We went on the old road which is narrower than the newly made highway as it takes quite a while to get to the access point of the highway from Colombo Hope this... More

It was about Rs.1500 per person. But I'm Sri lankan born, the rates maybe a bit more for foreigners.

It was 300 LKR per person. We were 12 in our group. No lunch.
