It was a very nice experience, I went with my cousins to see this beautiful nature like the Cayambe Volcano. which the van takes us to a parking lot
and we climbed to the foot of the volcano where you can live the experience of touching and playing with the snow, always with great caution and with appropriate clothing for the occasion, since today it was very cold but it was accessible, since that experience is unforgettable and cannot be . You can't waste even a minute being there.

Hello, I want to talk to you about my experience of living in Cayambe. I have lived in Cayambe since I can remember, this small town saw me grow up. Cayambe is a very magical place, full of places to visit and traditional and delicious food. Cayambe's weather is very crazy, there are days when the sun is very hot, others when the cold makes you freeze, and others when the wind is so strong that you feel it can take you. In my opinion I prefer cold weather, it is much more pleasant.
Cayambe is the place of the Bizcochos and the Queso de hoja, throughout the town of Cayamabe you can find some restaurants that have Quesos de hoja and Bizcochos, it is a traditional dish of Cayambe. Many tourists come to Cayambe to try the Queso de hoja and Bizcochos, some people also take them abroad. The best known place where tourists go to eat bizcochos is the Bizcochos del Padre restaurant.
Cayambe also has some places that you can visit for example: monument to the middle of the world, the Cariacu waterfalls, the snowy Cayambe, the Puntiatzil architectural complex, Municipal Museum, Molios ta Onio railway bridge.
Cayambe also has many parks that you can go to, it also has rivers, another known place is also the house of Mariana de Jesus, a very beloved saint in the country. There are also many pools, one that I know is on the bank of a river.
Of the places that I have visited in Cayambe, the Cariacu waterfalls are my favorite places, these waterfalls are very large, they are in a community called Cariacu, to get to these waterfalls you have to walk a lot. The first time I went to these waterfalls, I was a girl and the road was not pretty, because it was in poor condition, years after I went again, the road was already more arranged and with signs so that you can get there. The people of the community are in charge of taking care of the waterfalls, and the people should not damage or dirty the waterfalls
I have not been able to go to the snowy Cayambe, but in the photos I have seen, it is a very magical and beautiful place, with a beautiful view. In order for you to get to the snowy, you must be accompanied by someone who knows the way because you can get lost.
Living in Cayambe has been a beautiful experience, the food and all the places it has for you to have fun. If you ever come to Ecuador, I recommend that you visit Cayambe in the province of Pichincha. Cayambe is near to the capital of Ecuador. I hope you visit some Cayambe and visit the Cariacu Waterfalls and eat the delicious Quesos de hoja and the Bizcochos.

This is as good scenery as you'll see anywhere, beautiful mountains dominated by the beautiful snow-topped Cayambe Volcano. Definitely worth taking in on your Ecuadorian Andes trip.

Don’t go to cayambe (town) to get to the mountain. The roads on the west side are impassable. Take the southeast highway from Quito. Lots of bears in the area as well. I recommend using a guide.

Though this is just a little shy of 19,000 feet it is a very doable climb. You can hike to around 17,000 feet before needing the crampons. Due to fresh snow then warm temperatures my guide felt there was a significant avalanche threat, so I didn't get to the top. It's a long drive to the refugio at the base of the volcano. To actually get to the refugio you need a 4 wheel drive with good ground clearance and tires. Even then it is tough going for the vehicle. The refugio is at about 15,000 feet and you can stay in the barrack style rooms and they serve breakfast. A worthwhile experience.

My girlfriend and I ventured to Volcan Cayambe with our friend who is an experienced guide with the intention to summit the nearly 19000 foot volcano. We had booked a bed in the refuge a few weeks prior and were the only people to stay there that night. Rather than hiking to the refuge, we hired the taxi services of Don Amable (Mr. Friendly) who drove us to the refuge in his truck. It was well worth the 80 bucks. The refuge served us hot food which was nice. We then fell asleep around 7 in anticipation for our 12 AM start time. It had snowed a few days prior and so we were concerned about the snow conditions. Around 16,500 feet we approached the glacier on the volcano and put on our spikes and roped in. While progress was slow going, we were able to slowly work our way up the volcano in the darkness. After passing through an avalanche start zone, we finally found mellower terrain where we started careful route finding to avoid crevasses. Unfortunately, due to a snow event in the days prior, a snow bridge we needed to cross collapsed and we were forced to turn around 120 feet from the summit around 4:45 AM. However, on our descent, we were greeted by a fantastic sunrise where we could see the towering peaks of Antisana y Cotopaxi. It was a challenging day but the sunrise was worth it. I recommend spending a few days in Quito acclimatizing and perhaps climbing Rucu Pichincha as an acclimatization hike to deal with the elevation. I loved this experience and recommend it to anybody looking for a rowdy Ecuadorian adventure.

Most visitors skip this and go straight to Cotopaxi or Chimborazo, therefore, not many people adventure to the Cayambe Volcano. If you don't want to climb to the refuge house, head to Cayambe town and you can have amazing views of the glacier volcano just from outside town, or if you have time, rent a car to take you to La Chimba, the view from there is breathtaking! Just remember, if you want to enter the national park, you need a 4x4 car.

Cayambe City is an agricultural city in highland Ecuador.
There are two monuments to the Equator in Cayambe: One, is the Quitsato Sundial, a touristic sundial, and one of the most accurate places in the world created to determine equator position. Is a globe monument, known there as "La Bola" (The Ball) located in the 46km from Quito at Pan-American Highway.
Climbing Cayambe is dangerous and more difficult than either the Chimborazo Volcano or even the Cotopaxi Volcano.
About the Gastronomy, part of typical food of Cayambe are "Bizcochos" they can be accompied with fresh "queso de hoja" or "dulce de leche".
