About
The Maws Craft Centre and Maws Creative Spaces are a collection of art, craft and design studios situated in the picturesque Ironbridge Gorge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, 1.5 miles from the historic Iron Bridge. Housed in the refurbished Victorian tile factory of Maw & Co, once the world's largest tile manufacturer. The building now comprises independently run studios - a mix of artists, designers & makers, galleries, a holistic therapist, the Tile Press café, a craft supplies shop, the Gorge Parish Council office, IT consultants and media companies. The Maws courtyard is used to host events including open air concerts, World Heritage Site events and outdoor art exhibitions. The centre courtyard is open to walk through 7 days a week but individual shop & studio opening times vary. Usually a selection of them can be found open most days. To visit a particular artist please check with them before travelling any distance. Contact details are on our website.

Mist Jewellery is simply stunning!
May 2021 • Couples
We visited the centre to go specifically to Mist Jewellery, which is simply stunning Pearl, gemstone and silver handmade jewellery. Lots on display but the owner is also onsite crafting her wares. Julia, the owner, is super friendly and is on hand for any dilemmas you may have with choosing or alternatively, to design a commissioned piece especially for you or whom ever you may want to treat!

We also visited the cafe for a cuppa and some delicious cake which we enjoyed sitting on the picnic benches outside and the plant shop, Loam, where we came away with a couple of succulents. It’s a beautiful place to spend some time seeped in history and the arts.

Disappointing
Dec 2020
Very disappointed, compare to my previous visit in summer 2018. Not much there in the way of shops. There is a lovely plant shop but nothing really worth to mentioning otherwise. The tea room OKish but nothing special, I felt the prices menu was over priced and food was not take great. Will not return anytime soon.

Hidden gem
Aug 2020
Found this by accident as we were looking for a museum (which was closed anyway)
Great reimagining of part of a tile works with lots of artisan businesses and a great cafe. Plenty of space to wander round and shops to suit every crafty taste from plants to paint and much more.
A nice afternoon spent.

Not much to see. Long wait for drink/meals
Aug 2020 • Couples
Not much to see, really: many shops and activities are still closed due to Covid-19. What was open, was not interesting (for us). We waited in the queue for coffee and had been informed at the till on 40 min waiting time to be served cup of coffee due to Covid.

Ideal for present shopping
Dec 2019 • Couples
A great afternoon out. There are a range of artisans- mostly arts and crafts but also someone doing nut butters. The cafe is lovely and it’s a nice walk along the old railway line from a iron bridge.

Lovely little craft shops.
Nov 2019
What a interesting place to spend a couple of hours. Lovely craft shops selling all sorts, art and a cosy cafe to visit. The crafters are all very friendly and interesting. Even my husband enjoys a wander around and he is not a usually keen on browsing. Some of the steps into the shops are a bit high so not ideal for everyone.

Magical Maws!
Sep 2019 • Couples
Just spent another happy hour or so browsing the excellent little shops at Maws craft centre near Ironbridge. This place has really raised it’s game in recent years and the mix of beautiful products for sale along with the extremely kind, friendly and knowledgeable artisans who create them makes for a truly peaceful and really enjoyable shopping experience. I absolutely love spending time in Loam the plant shop - the enthusiasm from The owner and her knowledge of plants is unrivalled and I’ve become totally hooked on indoor plants thanks to her. Mist has beautiful individual pieces of handcrafted jewellery by the very talented silversmith and I’m slowly building up a lovely individual collection of unique pieces from this very special shop. Our home is constantly filled with the gorgeous scent of lemongrass and ginger candles from the fabulous Ironbridge candle making company who even offer a refill service as well as delicious body lotions and beautiful items for the home. I won’t buy my handmade soaps from anywhere other than Pink Moon creations now as the scent stays all the way to the end of the bar and it doesn't turn into a slimey mush as I’ve found with other soaps...the lemon one is gorgeous, I love it! The bath products from Dona Elementis are also well worth a try. The sleepy night time oil in the bath is so soothing and relaxing you won’t want to get out!
To top it all is the fab Tile Press cafe which sells delicious coffee, cakes and savoury items, many of which are gluten free. Just what’s needed before or after one of the many gentle walks which can be started from Maws.
It’s definitely our ‘go to’ place to find peace, good food, wonderful friendly customer services and top quality items.
Well worth a visit.

A relaxed dog and family friendly craft centre. The grand children had a wonderful time making their own tie dye t shirts with Gemma at Salix Alternative Clothing.

We also enjoyed chatting and shopping at Loam, which is a treasure chest of unusual, well cared for house plants.

Artisan Perfection
Sep 2019 • Solo
What an amazing place this is. From the moment you walk through the gates of this old Victorian Tile Factory there is a relaxing energy and you are greeted with a multitude of unique shops selling goods not available elsewhere. There is a magical air about the place too.

Visit the cafe for genuinely great homemade food or wonderful shops such as The Bearded Stamper - Artisan Cards. Pete, the owner, is indeed the proud keeper of a magnificent beard. He also has a great talent for creating bespoke handmade cards for every occasion. His infectious humour reflecting the love he has for his craft. He is just one of many talented artisans who all contribute to the community they have created. From bespoke furnishings to holistic treatments, wonderfully unique clothing and high end photography.

All of this and not a tacky gadget shop or vape shop in sight.

What a special place to visit!
