This is a castle set on high, so the views are excellent. Unfortunately most of the castle was closed due to filming but what we saw was very interesting. It is not busy so you can saunter around and enjoy the views from very angle....and what views. It is well worth visiting.

The castle of the Guidi is very well preserved and was built presumably by the father of Arnolfo di Cambio and it is the prototype with which was built later the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence. Very interesting is the great cantilevered staircase, the first of its kind and the Guidi Chapel where there are some frescoes attributed to Taddeo Gaddi.... More

It was fun finding this castle and parking in the small old town on the hill. There is a small fee to enter. The inside of this castle has some furnishings and is very reminiscent of the times, with a good audio tour that is included with price on entry. We enjoyed going from room to room listening to the... More

I was attracted to this castel as I had seen it once on a photograph in a travel guide. The picture showed the castle from far, on the top of a hill with clouds hanging around it providing a mysterious look. On a sunny day like I was there, ofcourse it did not resemble in anyway the picture I still... More

The castle was in good shape and the audio guide was useful. The story behind Lady Matilda kept our 2 pre-teens spooked. The climb up the tower was worth the view. Fun was had by the whole family.

A place to visit. It is a medieval castle not to far from Florence in the Casentino countryside. It is on the top of a hill in a strategic position .. So wonderful panorama and very nice village around. It is a place full of history XII-XIII century

Life in the 1300s was political and vindictive! Come and see this castle, learn about the feuding parts of Italy and who won! The castle itself is also very nice and you'll enjoy the views.

Came here with our 15yr old daughter and spent 2 hours wandering around the various rooms and listening to the audio guide. Excellent value at €5 each & a lovely outdoor café located just over the road.
