If you are fortunate to be here when they have a celebration of the blessed Mary it’s something to see.1000 people is not unheard of. This was built in the 1600’s and still is in amazing condition. A place not to miss if you are here in August

A bit of a drive to get here but worth it. Be prepared to wear 'decent' clothes out of respect. Beautifully carved and decorated. Nice little gift shop where you can buy locally made honey, preserves etc.

A place to feel the absolute stillness and to rest from the street noises. The monastery is very clean and everything is in order. Also you can find there to buy ecological herbs

Megali Panagia is one of the most beautiful Samos Monastery´s.
It is located on the road between Mili and Koumaradei. A good paved road on the mountain between the two towns. It is a beautiful trip up the naked mountain.
The Monastery is well maintained with a beautiful church.
From Megali Panagia there is view to monastery, Moni Pimios Stavros on another mountain about 3-4 kilometre away. A legend says, that the two monastery´s was build of two brothers.

The monastery lies on the road between Pythagorion and Koumeika, near the small village of Mili on the south east part of Samos island, Greece. The building`s are made with a red colored stones, not normally seen. Inside the monastery there is a church with daily services, and it has a very special architecture, that can bring your mind towards Buddhist monasteries in Nepal. Outside there is a beautiful view over the valley below, and across the valley you can see another big monastery by the name of Moni Timiou Stavrou. A peaceful place to rest the mind.
