Basic but interesting an historically important

Its not pristine but it is really interesting as a architectural achievement. If your touring around the area certainly worth the visit.

Well you do expect to see a submarine, and guess what NO submarine! Slightly interesting but seen better. At least I had my wife (Russian) to translate otherwise a few tunnels a bit of oily water and little else. Didn't do it for me.

A must for Cold War / military history fans. Impressive complex, giving a good impression about the mood in the secret site of Balaclava during these times. After Ukraine let the museum down and robbed all valuable materials, new Russian authorities made a great effort to renew the site during the past year, including boat tours through the submarine channels.... This is one of a fascinating tourist attraction I have ever been, truly a hidden gems of Sevastopol!! As the site is underground, the temperature is quite low, I suggest tourist should bring a jacket along

This is one of my favourite museums, partly because growing up in the Cold War I finally got to go into a secret Soviet submarine base, and so followed (in my mind) in the footsteps of James Bond et al. This should be used in a James Bond film. Ten ton blast doors, long tunnel with canal for submarines running... More

Hidden Gem and a very peaceful setting. well worth a visit this is one place the west during the cold war would have loved to get a spy iniside and now you get the chance to do what many spies wanted to do, just now with the iron curtain down.

The museum is under renovation, but opened for visitors who are obligatory guided. ~1,5 km of underground walking allows to appreciate the power of Soviet army and navy.

This is one of the things to do in Krimea you shouldn't miss. It's an old naval base in which nuclear submarines used to be repaired now turned into museum. We had a tour in Russian so can't tell you what would happen should you choose tour in English, but we had fun and it was quite thrilling to walk... More

This place is full of promise and lacking on delivery. The idea of visiting a submarine base carved out of a hillside and unknown to the West for many years is what took me to Crimea; but the experience itself sits bottom of my list of Crimea attractions. When you get there, you'll find the boat tours of the sub... More

We did not know that this existed: a place tunnelled out in a mountain next to the sea where the Russians could hide their entire nuclear submarine fleet. It could also in the case of nuclear war shelter 2,000 persons for over a month. Go with a guide as there is nothing in English but the exhibits are outstanding and... More
