Saltwork nearby Pichilemu - a magical landscape
Apr 2018 • Family
Salinas de Cahuil is a group of saltworks nearby Pichilemu. Is a beautiful place to visit and is easy to understand how it works. The saltworks are placed along the Nilahue stream; when the sea raises its level the ponds are filled with seawater; when the level goes down the seawater remains inside the ponds. The sun does the rest during several months. Local inhabitants have been producing salt as far as the memory goes back. You can stroll around the ponds, talk to the local producers and buy salt - which will enhance and improve any BBQ!-. Is safe for the children, I took my 5 years old daughter and she had a very nice time running around the ponds - the ponds are a few inches deep -. Take your camera, is a magical and timeless landscape in winter.

A must visit!
Jan 2019 • Friends
Great relaxing drive or bicycle ride to visit some nice salt harvesting areas and learn how they do it! Also stop to buy some nice artisan works in wood or ceramic! You will not be disappointed!

Precioso! Beautiful!
Dec 2017 • Couples

A peaceful place to meet nature, where you can spot wild geese and black-necked swans in their nesting place.
Good place to buy sea salt at a good price.
Missing places to eat and even more, public toilets.

Surprise: A different landscape
Dec 2016 • Family
The peaceful country landscape changes from a blue river flowing quietly to a white-gray salty marsh with flocks of different birds including ducks, geese, and swans which attract your attention and make you take photo after photo. There is a fair nearby where you can buy salt in sacks or gourment savoured salts and honeys and curious handcrafted souvenirs. You can also take a boat ride or rent a kayak to feel adventure in a safe surrounding. Worth visiting!

A short and interesting visit
Dec 2015 • Family
If you're in Pichilemu, Cahuil is a nice place to go. Located at no more than 30 minutes from Pichilemu, this is a quiet place where you can watch the process of the salt and how people work in there. There's not a lot to see there apart from the people working in here and the beautiful nature surrounding Cahuil, so you won't spend more than 2 hours here. You can buy salt though, which is really good quality and it's not too expensive depending on how much you want to buy. Also, there are some restaurants that are really good that you can visit before or after you did the route of the salt.
