The church is set in a beautiful gorge, access being via a swing bridge over the Pineios River. The church itself is built against the side of a cliff, beside which is the entrance to a grotto with a fresh water spring. Steps from the church lead up to an abandoned railway line, including two tunnels and a small railway station all of which were fascinating to explore. There is also a small cafeteria nearby though rather run down and neglected now.

Looking completely different compared to other churches; the enviroment reminds on a beautiful park, with a stream. There is a cave inside, where You can take a holy water

Built part in the rocks over a river bridge which apparently if visited during the daylight is pretty.
We visited on the saints day so the place was packed even at 10pm! Loads of gypsies which was off putting. Church itself was ok and the holy spring down a narrow rock hole interesting for a small donation.
Interesting but not the best example of an Orthodox Church

In honesty it was dark when we got here as being the saints day it was packed out earlier on. Packed full of gypsies it was a little off putting. However the church is over a bridge and built into the side of a rock and has a holy spring that you can also visit for a small donation which is down a narrow rock tunnel.
Apparently we were told that the view from the bridge down river was pretty in daylight.
Lots of parking on the road and loads of market like stalls.
The church itself was quite basic and not the best Orthodox Church I've seen but it if you're passing well worth a visit.

Beautiful valley before Larissa. Walking next clear water. Only what is pity that they don't care and common place is destroyed. Toilet don't use!

Quick visit to fetch water from a cave spring. Queing in front of the cave is mandatory and then walking through a small tunnel to reach the spring inside the cave.

It is the most common stop you can do at Tempi. There you can find some great local products and taste fresh water. I would def recommend you to give it a try if passing by.

I've heard that the water from the spring in the cave can heal any eye problems, and you can go inside and take as much as you need - so don't forget an empty bottle with you.

Its on the road south heading to Larissa.I have marked it on a map.Park the car and walk across the expansion bridge and you will see 2 chapels left and right. There is a small cave leading to a natural spring by the right side chapel. There is a spring producing crystal clear drinking water which gives a blue tinge coming from under the rocks and meets the muddy brown water of the river. There are walks up and down the river and a restaurant plus a series of permanent tourist stalls with religious material.

We always stop and light a candle whenever we pass. It is just a beautiful place to stop and reflect on life. The water is so clear as comes out of the mountain, you could drink it without fear.
