About
The Salt Mine Nemocón with over 500 years of history underground is an attraction of Colombia in South America, imposing building at 80 meters deep. Mining tunnels descending the mountain bearing the visitors begin their journey through this amazing construction that will take you to the House of mirrors natural brine, salt cascade over 80 years old and the fountain or wishing well, which they are some of the magical places to discover. In the chamber of the Chapel with its enormous sphere carved in rock salt 1300 kilos symbolizing the world's mining tradition is revived, wedding vows, thanksgivings miners, drivers and devotees of the Virgen del Carmen are renewed. In hunch camera or the lovers I surprised with the salt crystal only 1,600 kilos in the world, carved in the shape of heart.

Gorgeous and surprising, I never expected this. A must-see from Bogotá. Excellent guide, who made the tour even more interesting. The site is very well maintained, easy to visit. A hidden treasure that I would definitely recommend.

Forget Zipaquira salt mine. Come to Nemocon salt mine. The road to come here is not good but the experience is 100% good. Not as commercial as Zipaquira and a personal guide (Spanish). Also the price was less than 50% of Zipaquira.

This was a really cool experience - I visited here the same day as Zipaquirá (which I also liked), but this felt like a hidden gem in comparison, especially because I was on the last tour of the day, so there were only four of us in the entire place.

I don’t know how many of the guides speak English, but I was shown around by Natalia who patiently explained everything to me in English after doing so in Spanish for the other two in our group. She was a fantastic guide - lovely, very informative and her English was excellent (given that I think she’d only ever given tours in Spanish before!).

The caves themselves are quite impressive, the history is interesting and the reflective saltwater pools look incredible - I’d definitely recommend this!

NB - If you leave Bogotá at 9am you should have enough time to do Zipaquirá and then Nemocón with buses, which were actually quite easy to get. Zipaquirá costs 100,000 COP, whereas Nemocòn is only 40,000.

A waste of time. 30 minutes drive from Zipaquira. Pay $8 per person to enter, to then be told you can only go on an accompanied tour. The next 50 minutes away. Or pay an extra $20 for an exclusive tour. We were the only two people there, it is going to be an exclusive tour anyway.
So I'm not promoting this by adding photos. The way they work you'll need at least half a day out of Zipaquira or a day from Bogota to do this tour, it's not worth that.

Use a guide. Well worth the extra cost.

Interesting stories especially the connection to the Chile mile rescue.

Nice exhibits as well.

Easy walking and fair prices.

So worth coming all the way here. The tour is very interesting, the capilla inside very nice. But if you go, you need to have a round trip ride. Otherwise will get stuck there or need to grab a bus 😱

We were received by Martín who guided us through the museum and the mine. His deep knowledge on the paleonthology of the surroundings and on the history, composition and productive processes of the mine, made this a formative and really fun experience. Thank you!!

Very Good alternative to a trip to Bogotá Sabana. You will have acces to a small natural history museum.
