Amazing view of the ancient port and a Roman Villa at just 2 meters depth. Totaly clear water and amazing view. It's a great visit besides the archeological site and the theater of Asclepius in Epidaurus

We (eight friends) did the Ancient Sunken City Tour with Alex and John and it was great! They were really kind, enthusiastic and Alex was very passionate. Next to that, the food by Alex’ mom was delicious. We got melon, home-made cake and stuffed tomatoes. We would recommend this tour’

We had a wonderful day trip with our older children (aged 18 to 25). We went swimming to see the site. Its very very close to the beach! You do not need to go far. 2 of us borrowed snorkels from cafe on the beach. I swam without but still could see loads. Well worth having swimming footwear. As ground is very stoney and lots or sea urchins. Lovely meal at the beach cafe too. They only take cash and have limited English. But very friendly and good food. Highlight of my holiday.

Very nice and impression place. I had a little time to visit the sunken city but within the little time couldn't stop wathing and enjoing the place. It's a bit difficult to get there cause there are not signs. The place is located next to Hotel "Sunny Garden". The best way to get there you write in (google maps) name of the hotel.

If you dig around a little you will find that the sunken city was not so much a city as a Roman villa possibly used as a healing center or spa. The site is near shore and only 6-10 feet deep. You can (but should not) touch the tops of several walls with your feet while your head remains above water. Unfortunately the popularity of the site and the ease of finding it do not bode well for it's preservation. We saw one visitor walking on top of the sunken walls. There is nothing to stop you from doing this other than a healthy population of needle sharp urchins and at least one fire worm we spotted.
Snorkeling rather than scuba diving is definitely the best way to enjoy visiting the site. We used the nearby Athina Tavern, previously the Sunken City Cafe as our base. We parked at the restaurant and enjoyed lunch before making our way a short distance down the beach to a small stone dock. Entering the water there was easy and after snorkeling around the site for close to an hour it was also a nice place to haul out and lay in the sun. Back at the Athina Tavern there was a shower for rinsing off the salt water.
Snorkeling over the walls and remnants of massive jars was fascinating. Several of the walls were built with what looked like vents created by angling the tiles. There was also a large platform of stones. The photos from our inexpensive GitUp cameras (like knock off GoPros) were impressive. We enlarged the best one, an over and under shot of the sunken ruins and the hills along the coast, to 18X24 and it looks fantastic.

It is just a non descript beach with a nice taverna, until you get inside the water, and the magic happens. Swimming between big vases, walking on top of walls, sliding through old walkways... it is a unique experience worth having it and if you carry a mask with you, you'll enhance it even more.
Wear beach shoes because there are a lot of sea urquins "protecting the place" and making it difficult for you to walk barefoot.
If you can, don't miss it; it's one of a kind experience.

We had heard about this place, and really wanted to visit it but were only staying nearby for one night. But we decided that we would get up,early the day we were leaving, walk the 400m from our campsite and try and find it. The location is at the end of a dead end road. Where the road meets the sea, there’s a sign on the beach for “The Sunken City, 50m”. Then there’s another sign on the beach pointing out to the sea, just follow that. We snorkelled out to it at 08:00, the sea was flat calm and we had it all to ourselves! It was a truly fabulous experience swimming over the remains of the buildings and seeing all the fish. And as per previous advice, wear water shoes, there are lots of spiny urchins.

The Sunken Ancient Village: go to the beach near hotel Mike in Epidavros and get your snorkelling equipment on because you can see the ruins of an Ancient Greek village underwater. You heard that right. It is a pretty cool sight and definitely worth seeing but don’t expect to see actual buildings like myself because you will be disappointed. You can see mainly walls and loads of rocks really close to the shore but if you go on a boat tour (around €50 per person) it might allow you to snorkel in deeper waters and you might be able to see more buildings (we haven’t done the boat tour but that’s what we were told). If you don’t have snorkelling equipment you can buy it from a local store but you might get a better deal if you buy it online or at a specialised store.

Lucked out to find national archeologist team scuba diving at site. It was a thrill for my young daughter to snorkel at a distance watching them work. Very friendly. A little hard to find the right beach for us but once we did finding the area underwater was easy as it was the place where the archeologists were. There are signs directing towards the sea where to find the “underwater city” but without noticing the archeologists it was likely we would not have found it on our own through just simply snorkelling where the signs seemed to point.

Just a couple of strokes from the beach you can snorkel around the walls of the sunken city. Absolutely great experience. There are 7-8 large jars in a building made of stone I think, a part of a road and a building with rectangular stone floor, which is really amazing. One minute walk from the local "parking" if you find some space.
I suggest early morning visit, sun helps in the morning to see details and the beach is empty.

La spiaggia dove si trova the sunken city è tranquilla e c'è un bel mare? Ho letto molte recensioni positive sulla spiaggia Kalamaki ma sarebbe bello vedere anche questa città sommersa.
Grazie
