About
This was once the summer retreat of Tipu Sultan. It’s a good place for hiking and birding. The hill also has temples dating back to the Chola period. It gets extremely crowded on weekends. The hills offer great views of the surroundings, though.

Nandi Hills is famous for the iconic sunrise and cloud cladded hilltop. But with this beauty come too many visitors (I mean too many is an understatement). If you go on a weekend and reach anytime after 5:30 AM, chances are that you may have to come back from the foothill only. It has no crowd management whatsoever and on top of it crazy drivers push their cars in every nook n Corner. Go there on weekends and come back with anger, anguish and tired body.
Weekdays are bit relaxed however not worth the effort anyday. This place used to be charm but now it’s just a big rock nothing else. Avoid at all costs. And never never never go on weekends or holidays.

Dirty hills and you need to pay multiple times to enter Nandi hills
1.Hill entry fee for car
2. Hill bus fee 25rs for 1 KM oneway (most expensive ticket per mile in India)
3. Hill Walking fee but no receipt
4. Slipper or Shoes 5 Rs per pair but no receipt near the temple
5. They don't allow water bottles but they charge and force you to buy plastic bottles and sell tap water.
6. Trash everywhere and area not clean.
7. Horrible hotel food in Nandi hills

I have seen few images of Nandi hills and that attracts me to explore that place.

I always take public transport as my first priority and it's worthwhile.

When you want to go away from your day to day life, this is the prefect place to explore with family and friends. Easy access to place like this. It could be road trips via bike, car and public transport as well.

An entry for nature lover to wild life, covering green trees all around and trekking to top of the hill. On reaching to the top, a view will change your mind and refresh energy. Sky cover with full of clouds, land cover with lakes and eyetesting to watch as far as you can.

Top of the hill covers sunrise to sunset. Time passes away like a flash of light while watching and enjoy the view. A flow of wind keeping you energized and clouds like touching your feet.

Sunset is like sun playing hide and seek with clouds. Red and orange light reflection from lakes. Sky and clouds full of mixture of red and orange colour.

A solo trip to Nandi Hills.

Few things one must be aware of is that there are people out there who will over charge u n loot tourist. The people at the car park ask for tips when u leave although car park charges are included in entry ticket price of Rs 150 when u enter the main gate. Also the shops who sell tea n drinks they too look at tourist and quote different prices for tea and when u buy couple of things from them they will quote any price do ask price for each item they are also cheats. The guide out there agreed on 150 rs n at the end becoz there was no internet n we paid cash n had no exact change he took 400 from us saying he is poor with kids so want more . So don't get cheated when u go there keep exact change n be alert .

Nandi hills is still closed and no signage of closure untill you reach the nearest point.
So atleast ask somewhere or search in google for the latest updates. The place is superb. I have been here before.

Due to a landslide that occurred in August 2021, the road app Nandi hills are now closed as reconstruction work is in progress. Since it was not mentioned anywhere until the foothills, we drove early morning till there and had to return back. Hope the officials update the closure and reopening of the hills somewhere that can reflect on internet when people browse about Nandi hills..
