Very nice place, outstanding landscape. All kind of trekking options ! The road to get there is one of the worst I've ever seen in my life, and I've seen many....Not even with a 4WD you can make it on your own, hire one with a driver or go with the (russian) truck that makes it everyday. But it is worth it !!

The place is indeed beautiful and looks exactly like the photos. However, some info that I wish I had known before:
- there is no internet connection at all, no wifi and no phone signal.
- we paid for expensive guest house and it had no shower (they said it was broken). In the yurt camps, there is only hole in the ground toilet and no shower at all. Or cold water shower in a wooden hut next to cows (had to take it because for me showers are necessary especially after hiking)
- the way to the free hotspring is super dangerous, a very narrow path with a steep slope going down to the river at your left side. The path is very eroded and many parts was super hard. They say it is 15 min walk but for us it was 30 min. In the end, we also could not access the hotspring because there were no stairs and it was too steep to climb up. Some local men arrived and helped us. Not worth the stress!!!
- It rains pretty much every day after 6 PM, very heavily, it becomes quite cold, even in the guesthouse were supposedly there should be heating, I felt freezing
- Horses and many dogs everywhere roaming around
- The guesthouse was using and serving water from the tap, even though they said it is safe to drink, I highly doubt so as the water was coming directly from a waterfall in front of the guesthouse, any animal could use it. We had stomach problems for many days.
- It is expensive to get there and back, unless you want to hike for 4-5 hours (steep parts). Luckily I was able to share the ride with others.

Overall the place is really beautiful but it is only for those who are ok with giving up on comfort. Those who are hikers, adverturers, etc. Not for me.

My partner and I stayed at the second location of yurts as soon as you see the village. The lady that hosts was amazing. She was always caring for our needs and always checked up on us. We stayed for 3 nights and payed 3,600 som per night (breakfast and dinner included). There was also guides with horses right in the yurts that we stayed at. It was just a 10 min walk to go to the hot springs. The view was amazing, nature is so beautiful there.

Being one of the most famous tourist place in Kyrgyzstan, I expected lot of crowd. Even most of the guest houses were occupied. But you will not feel the crowd. 1 hr Journey to Altyn Arashan is quite bumpy and adventurous, we went in small Russian jeep (7000 soms for car with 4 sitting). We stayed in Elsa guesthouse (5000 soms for separate room). The scenery is amazing. Hot water spring is good experience (private one). We couldn't go to Ala Kul lake because Pass was covered in snow, but really enjoyed the valley. Do try fermented horse milk drink (Kymyz). In return, we hiked down which took us 4 hrs.

This place is most popular in this destinations. You can do hiking 2 days from Ak Su village, There is no public transport. You need to order car through company. Because road to Altyn-Arashan valley is difficult road. Therefore you need to good 4x4 car or military truck. Who dont want to hike they can go by car, but we did hiking because the way is not difficult, even for beginners if fine. It takes 5,6 hours from the ak Su village. totally 22-23km.

In Ak Su village there is also natural hot spring, 3 type of temperature warm, hot and hottest. on the way back you can visit this place. Our guide Kanat he is the best. He knows all places in Kyrgyzstan

I climbed up to Altyn Arashan in snow and ice. It was very cold and not an easy walk, but the hot springs were wonderful in the snow.

Altyn Arashan is located 20-22km from Karakol. Our tour started from the hitel, driver pick up from the hotel and drive to Ak Suu village, from here was waiting our Horseman with horses. I never ride a horse before, Horse guide he helped me alwais and horses are relly good for beginners. En route landscape so beautiful, when we arrived to guest house, we had hot tea with jam and honey. There is 2 hot springs, one is inside the building, second is outside in a nature, near the river. 1st day we went for the hot spring which is inside the building. Second day to wild hot spring. I loved that wild hot spring. After lunch we riding back to Karakol.
During the trip temperature was +5+10 at night -5-10. But inside the guesthouse was very warm.

The tour organised with local tour company in Karakol city "Travel Forever" they are did best my trip in Kyrgyzstan. I contacted by WA +996774730238. Quikly answers and gave me relaible, best price.

The company advise me cheapest way to reach till Karakol from Bishkek. there is always share taxi takes about 7 hours 400km.
Thank you for everything "Travel Forever" team and highly recommend to everyone. If you are say from Arna they do discount for you!

This review is for the Nomad Life Guesthouse. We arrived after two days of hiking through Ala-Kul Pass from Karakol, just as the rain turned heavy. The husband must have seen us approaching up the path and, like a savior, urged is to his guesthouse. Though it may not look as impressive as some of the other guesthouses in the area, it was certainly the warmest as far as hospitality. Dinner, beds, a fire, private hot springs - all was included as well as provisions for sale. Boarding includes both yurts and bunkhouse accommodations.

Thankful he found us in the rain and even more thankful for the astounding hospitality of the guesthouse.
