We had a wonderful experience to see the old age cultural show of kathakali here. We were amazed by their facial expressions, dancing skills, the music, the singing, the clothing attire, etc. The ticket was also reasonably fair Rs. 200 per person. Hats off to their efforts and skills which the have been learning for more than 12 yrs they say. We were disappointed to have missed the martial arts show, but I would highly recommend to cover both martial arts and kathakali show. It generally starts from 5 pm. It's 1 hr show each.

We asked our 8 year old what he wanted to see while in India and he said WWE wrestling. We told him that we would take him to something very similar (knowing they are nothing alike) This was the highlight of his trip. We also enjoyed the level of skill and training that these martial artists put into there show. I wont wreck the show by giving away each act, but you are left on the edge of your seat. It was one of my highlights too. If we were to recommend a must do experience this would be amongst the top of our list. Thanks for the great experience. :)

Both Traditional Dance Drama and Traditional Martial Arts show are at the same location. Of the two, I like the latter more for the action performance and intensity. That said, the dance drama is not any inferior; the show is interesting in expressive art and cultural performance. In short, just go for both and be entertained!

One of the best things to do in Thekkady !!

Such a breathtaking kalaripayattu show , showcasing martial art moves with weapons and stunts was just outstanding !!

Also guys, please do not miss the Kathakali performance at the same premises. They add humor to it by engaging the audience .

Overall , highly recommended place to be!!

This is the best thing we did in Thekkady. We watched both Kathakali and Martial arts show and both were brilliant. The shows were well planned and interactive. If you can reach early you can witness the makeup and dressing for Kathakali which was really great. During the one hour show the narrator explained the story of every piece so that the audience do not get lost during the performance. The martial art part was also great. The venue has ample parking. A must visit place in Thekkady!
