Oh my goodness when these birds start to rise up in the morning they are amazing creatures. They glide in the air currents and are the second largest bird on the planet. How graceful they are. Our guide got us up real early in the morning to get to this vantage point to get good place but it was too scary for me and I had to hang back as frightened of heights. The places that some people sit on are too precarious and there must be direct falls with carelessness. The birds do rise as the air currents get warmer and end up flying over you so you will get good photos even though you aren't at the precipice or up at the crack of dawn! One of my highlights of Peru trip.

Watch the condor rise and soar on the morning thermals.
Busy with other groups but plenty of space as the numbers are contralled by the park authorities.
Toilets available.

The Cañón del Colca is impressive, breathtaking. You can trek for a few days or take a tour that takes you to the main sights. We took a tour. The Mirador Cruz del Condor is probably the most impressive. We saw tons of condors flying near us. They are so majestic. The sights of the canyon and the river are gorgeous.
Totally worth!

We stopped here to see the condors when we were in the area. The views are amazing and while I wondered if we would see condors, we were rewarded with visits from several of these magnificent birds, soaring high above the canyon. This was one of our most unforgettable moments in Peru and I think you should try to do this if you possibly can when you are in the area.

Stopped here while driving to the start of the Colca Trek. The views are magnificent, but it is really touristic. There are a few viewing points with have much more beautiful landscapes, but this was the spot where we spotted the condors the first time.
You just need to stop here, enjoy the views and hopefully spot the condors.

We had a wonderful time with the condors. Yes it is quite busy, but there are lots of view points. The condors were amazing and do come remarkably close.

Not especially accessible for those less mobile, but otherwise an amazing experience.

If you go directly from Arequipa, it takes 4 and half hours to get there. The landscapes are just amazing and it is worth the visit because of this amazing nature.
Sadly, it is overcrowded and there are a lot of people dancing and asking for money, people dressed as condors and other stupid things.
Also, take in consideration that it is not that easy to see a condor, so maybe you won't be able to see one.

Best place for watching condors in Peru. We've enjoyed the time here, watching the canyon and the condors flying so close to us

The views of the canyon from here are breathtaking but the skies were overcast so we didn't see any condors. They like to glide over the thermals but with no sun, there were no thermals. You have to get lucky with the weather or wait it out and hope the sun comes out.

I liked the view more from the Mirador del Cura that is nearby. This place is a little bit more for the masses with more opportunity to look in every direction , so it’s maybe better for a condor watching.
