This church was built between 1430 and 1440 and is one of the oldest churches in Finland. Several overpainted medieval wall paintings were found and restored, when the church was renovated in the 1950s.

We were unlucky during our visit because there was some service going on and was not possible to go further, only quick peek inside. We did walk around it and did look nice. So something to visit next time

What a lovely surprise. The wall and ceiling paintings are wonderful! There is a nice triptych as well.

We stopped here shortly while driving around the Archipelago trail. If you love cemeteries, make a stop, it's worth it!

We visited St Michael's couch this afternoon. It dates back to the 13th century so is steeped in history and tradition. It's beautiful inside with many historic artifacts. Worth a visit.

Inside the Korpo Church you cannot but keep admiring the numeorus images painted on the ceiling and on the walls. You can see mermaids, hanseatic ships, knights, murals, sea monsters, saints...
