Scott Fischer was a renowned mountaineer who tragically lost his life during a disastrous expedition on Mount Everest in 1996. His passing was a great loss to the mountaineering community, and in the years since his death, there have been many tributes and memorials to honor his memory.

One of the most significant memorials to Scott Fischer is the plaque that was installed at the base of Mount Everest in his honor. The plaque reads, "In memory of Scott Fischer, a climber who lived his dreams and inspired others to do the same."

Scott Fischer's memorial sticks out among the various stone buildings that are present and honor the many people who died on the mountain. It is large, vibrant, and clearly labeled. People also pay attention to his memorial because he appeared in the movie "Everest."

A stunningly beautiful spot (at the top of the tough little climb out of Thukla) where memorials to Scott Fischer and the many other mountaineers who perished on the slopes of Everest are found. I found it a very moving place, windswept yet serene, and a great place to sit for a while and be lost in thought on the fleeting nature of life and the timelessness of the awe-inspiring scenery all around. Definitely one of the most memorable experiences on the Everest Base Camp trek.

A place of moving tribute to all climbers who have lost their lives on Everest. Here is a picture of two Sherpa, they are part of the unsung hero’s who risk their lives so non-Sherpa can climb Everest.

A very serene place to remember those who have died trying to summit Everest. Really puts into perspective the dangers of mountain activities, but how much those who does loved the challenge. Very well done memorial.

To choose one person's memorial amongst so many is difficult, but Scott Fischer's tribute stands out in the ever growing forest of stone structures commemorating the many who gave their lives on the mountain.

The setting is a small pass on the way to Everest, and once you cross the ridge, the many memorials are overwhelming. The mountain demands respect, and the gravity of that is reflected in the many lives that were lost on the trek upwards. It is a beautiful spot to stop and rest, and we had a little memorial ceremony for the dead. We had just seen the movie "Everest" the night before, so names like Fischer's and Rob Hall's were fresh in our minds. Seeing how Scott Fischer's memorial stands out with prayer flags and plaques really made us feel how his life was missed, as were all the rest of the mountaineers.

Reminds us all that ultimately, Anatoli Boukreev's quote that "The last word always belongs to the mountain" is oh so true. Pay tribute to all the heroes who did not make it back from the summit.

There are lots of memorials for the people who haven't returned from their Everest expedition. Scott was made famous by the film, but their many people remembered here.

The memorial to Scott Fischer is but one of dozens that dot the top of Thukla Pass. It's not hard to see why this spot was chosen to honour those who died climbing Everest and other nearby mountains - the location is stunning on a ridge with amazing views to the Himalaya range. One is overwhelmed by the shear number of memorials with many of the names being familiar like Scott Fischer. Fischer's memorial is somewhat unique in that his name is carved into a large boulder in a similar fashion to many Buddhist carvings one passes along the trails.

Just half an hour uphill trek from Thukla, you’ll find a plateau where just really sad stories of a lotta climber, sherpas and trekkers who died on the way to EBC or Everest summit. There were a few stories we read on the tombs where these people died on the way back too. A few memorial we saw where people were killed by avalanches, a few in terrorist attack and others in the Nepal earthquake in 2015. Trekkers stop at this point to read the stories on the tombs, pay homage and respect to all those great souls who died on the way to their bigges adventures of their lives. We also saw the memorial of Scott Fisher from the movie EVEREST.
A very overwhelming experience for anyone.
A must stop on The was from Dingboche to Lobuche.
