My wife and I visited here on a recent trip to Izu Peninsula. Quite good fun. I did not know Japan had a gold mining industry. We got to pan for gold as well. Good place for adults and kids alike

The highlight is the world's largest (most heavy) gold block and the gold panning experience. Although I got only 2 tiny pieces of gold myself before I got really tired;p And the bonus: it was early February when I went to visit Toi Kinzan, but...More

This gold mine (now closed) used to be No. 2 gold mine in Japan after Sado. Do not miss (actually to touch) the world's largest gold bullion. This place was quite enjoyable.

Delightful old display about gold mining in Japan. Worth while visit just to see the figures and mechanics of display. Some interesting info and a good long walk underground. Easy access.

I knew a fact that a gold mine in Sado was the biggest one in Japan and one in Toi was the second for the first time. This area used to be bustling thanks to this gold mine. The reason why I entered into...More

I strongly recommend this place to visit when you are in Izu. In the mine, you can see many figures dressed in Edo style. This figure is so elaborately made. It would make you imagine how people worked in Edo period. Here, You can find...More
