Some hundred miles from Chiang Mai. The city itself and the river has some charm but you should definitely get around through a tour or by yourself with a motorbike. It worth it.

There was not much to do in Mae Sariang itself. There are several pagodas and one museum; the latter has recently burnt. Several pubs and night markets. But look around - it is very nice and interesting.

A great ride from Chiang Mai once you get out of the Chiang Mai metro area. A beautiful countryside in the wet season
