- TravellerclassFarnham, United Kingdom1,176 contributionsGreat location with lovely views. We simply love coming to Bosham and enjoy the Quay area with all its history, views and atmosphere. We park in the main car park and walk down past the shops and along the sea front. Many people park down in this area but it is a dangerous practice as when the tide comes in the road outside Anchor Bleu is covered in water. We have been here a few times now and just enjoy the tranquillity and the marvellous walks and views on offer. The historic old ancient church stands proudly overlooking the tidal estuary. We found time to sit on the benches near the waters edge and the costal wall area and just watched the world tick by. In no time at all the tide started edging back in. Certainly worth a visit if you have never been before.Visited March 2023Written 20 March 2023

Great for a winter day visit but sure it’s mobbed in the summer. There is a fairly large pay display car park by the Quay with public toilets. Nice walk all around the bay with some great views. Few cafes and pubs to seek shelter on a day trip/visit.Visited December 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 7 January 2024

It was interesting to see how the local architecture adapts to the location ... lots of the house doors start 2 foot above the road to prevent flooding. There are a couple of local shops, a few cafe's and a pub. The views out to the river are lovely.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 March 2024

Ok so it was freezing cold but the stunning vista and scenery of a Bosham walk on a winter sunny day made up for it. It’s a nice walk around the quay area plus over to the other side of the harbour. Well worth a walk.

Bosham pronounced as Bozzum, is a lovely quaint coastal village in West Sussex. Situated on the edge of Chichester harbour, it has beautiful views over the quay. There is plenty to do and see! We walked along the beach as the tide was out when we arrived. Wildlife included seagulls, ducks and swans out looking for food. There was llarge amounts of seaweed and kelp on the pebbles and boulders on the beach. The tides rise and recede at certain times and one must be mindful of this when parking by the beach.
The houses and cottages right along the coastal side have been protected with boards to prevent the sea water getting in.
Bosham is a historical village, dating back to Roman times. In the 8th century, it was the sixth most important village in Sussex. King Harold 11, the last Anglo Saxon king, was said to have sailed from Bosham to Normany in 1064, to meet William the Conqueror after the desth of Edward the Confessor. King Canute was reputed to have commanded the waves to go back here to show the limitayions of a king. His daughter was said to have drowned in the mill stream and here and buried in a chancel in the Holy Trinity Church, dating back to the 10th century.
There are lovely cafes overlooking the quay and you can sit back and enjoy the views, the sights and sounds. Do not give it a miss!

Particularly at high tide, the panoramic views are amazing on a clear day. An area steeped in history with an ancient church dating back to Saxon times is well worth a visit.

Hi, as far as I am aware there is no path running along the Fishbourne Channel so you would have to use the road down to the Hoe. I maybe wrong, as you can make some ground northward towards Fishbourne from the Hoe but I do not know how much as there are a number of private houses with water fronts too.

I guess you could as long as you were aware of the tide. I didn't see any signs to say one can't launch from there.

Are there any BandBs near by or hotels. Love the village so much. Would be beautiful to be able to stay.

Yes there is one - very popular and quite up-market hotel (the name escapes me) and the village has holiday lets and some B&Bs. I would imagine it gets booked up very quickly in high season and when there are events in the vicinity such as the Goodwood Festival of Speeed.
