This hill is also one of iconic and most visited place in Sumba Island. The spot is perfect place to see and capture sunset time. In the area you will some some local kids brought their horses. Really beautiful to watch

Good to come by early morning too... less crowded .. wonderful view (but of course you will miss the sunset). Less vendors. COme during the rainy reason when you get to see the green rolling hills and the horses grazing nearby.

Coming from a place which is always lush and green, these yellowish dry hills are breathtaking. Strong cool wind with strong sun. Go as far as you can to get best views

Actually what you see in photos is just a tiny bit of it! You can see these hill views everywhere - all along the waaaaaaay. It's located in between East Sumba (Around 15 minutes from Waingapu City) & West Sumba and you'll realize how beautiful these landscape are! Only this spot which have access (that's why you'll see mostly the same spot in tourist photos), is just right on the side of the main road, have parking lots, kiosk, and stairs access. You only need to have a little hike so don't worry. You have to fill in a 'guest-book' and leave some money for the locals in exchange of entrance fee. People usually give around IDR10k-20k, no fix amount, but it'll be nice if you want to contribute more :)

This is the hill very famous for local tourists, that you pass if you cross the island from East to West or vice versa. I find it overrated and boring with only 1 viewing point. There are hills in the East with much better view that have more viewing points, like in Laidenha, Tanarara and Tanao. Be prepared to pay an "entrance fee" as you like, and 15,000 for parking. They also rent out Sumba's Tenun Ikat for 50,000 if you are instatourists.

It is located on the east part of Sumba. Similar view you can see at the Lendongara Hills at karuni Loura of you are at southwest sumba near Tambolaka.
Wairinding offers a large views of Savannah in the world. Great place for selfie and making prewedding photoes.
Great fotoes in combinations with ikan from east sumba which is easy to be found and buy

Gosh, its so beautiful and serene. Tho' you will need an effort to reach the hill once you are there, it worth the effort. I went there when everything is green and beautiful. Enjoying the sun set behind the hill , it was beautiful

These hills are gorgeous. A bit of a drive from Waingapu but totally worth it. I went at midday so it was super hot but still beautiful. I hiked away from the main ridge and found myself surrounded by green, bald hills and totally alone. It was so peaceful. The hills are covered in knee high grass and there are paths along the ridges so I definitely encourage you to walk a bit to get a better view away from most people who only go to the lookout point, take their pictures, and leave. You have to pay a small fee to the local village that maintains the area.

I visited this place twice in a day, noon and before sunset. I think the best time to go here is about one hour before sunset until sunsets over. This place provide a different experience to enjoy the sunset. I personally rarely enjoying sunset in the top of the hill.
I came here when rainy season so it’s all green. You can also visit this place when dry season to get a different color.
There’s one spot that visited the most but you need to pay to go in, but you can pay freely. You can walk or ride a bike to enjoy.

I came to Wairinding for my pre-wedding photoshoot at sunrise and it was wonderful. I suggest you to come on dry season when the grass are yellowish and you will get that "western American" look. If you come on the rainy season, the grass are green yet still amazing. Bring your drone here though.
