Looking at all the pictures of this place, we were excited to explore boating through the mangrove. We started Friday night from Chennai at 11:30 pm and reached Chidambaram around 3:20 am, though the bus was expected to reach around 4:30 am. The first bus being at 6:30 am, we had to wait for three hours in Chidambaram. There are... More

The world’s second largest mangrove forest (the Sundarbans National Park in West Bengal is the largest) , Pichavaram is spread over nearly 1200 ha and joins the Bay of Bengal, where it’s separated by a lengthy sand bank . This mangrove is sandwiched between the prominent estuaries, the Vellar estuary in the North and Coleroon estuary in the South. The... More

Pichavaram is the second largest mangrove forests in the world. Not marketed or spoken much about but it's a place you should never miss. It's a place good for both nature lovers as well as bird watchers. If you really wana do bird Watching you need to keep atleast 3 to 4 hours to be in the waters and forests.... More

One of the amazing features of nature is in Marshlands. I always wonder at the magnificent mangroves that are able to survive the water and grow. In Pichavaram, the water raises in the night and reduces in during the day. And the natures way of growing beautifully with this changing tide is a great. The place is best seen by... More

This is a very pleasant place. Tamilnadu tourism has arranged boad rides here. You can opt for row-boat or motor boat. Prices vary on the number of people in your crew. But they are definitely affordable. Sometimes, the boat-guy would lure you to pay money promising to take you to deeper canals within the same time. But, I was very... More

Natural beauty at its best! Take a row boat instead of motor if you want to enjoy nature's sound undistracted. Pay some tips (read 200 rs or so) for the boat man to take you to some exotic routes/ locations within the grove...

I had come to know about this place from a couple of my friends who had been there earlier. On googling, I found out that this is a really beautiful place and was wondering why it is not as popular as the other tourist spots in TN. We decided to give it a try anyways. The place is accessible by... More
