A well maintained Siva temple which is famous for its historical and archaeological beauty rather than its spiritual powers. It is around 35 km from Thanjavur and is a must see for those who love to have the historical lineage.

A very divine temple. It's one of the 14 temples that we have visited in Kumbakonam. This is known as Temple City and has at least 100 temples in 20km radius.

Old temple which describes the rich tradition and heritage of our country. Keen observation of the old construction surprises you. The temple is in the hands of Archealogical department of India and maintained very well.

One of the most beautiful temples I have visited. Worth going first thing in the morning before it gets hot to allow sufficient time on the lawns and strolling in the temple premises. Very clean and well maintained. Architechtural beauty. Do not miss this for...More

Third of the Chola Temples is Airavateshwara located at Darasuram, 3 kms from Kumbakonam Town. This is small premises compared to other two temples but very much quaint! Autos are available from Kumbakonam Town which has decent accommodation options available.

First thing I would like to share that even after spending 4 hours I didn't want to leave. Words are small to describe its grandeur. Perhaps most intricate carving done by cholas. You need to spend time to examine each carved structure to define shiva...More
