I can't say enough about Omar Tello's life work. His 7 hectare forest reserve is much more than an orchid garden, and he has created it over the last 30 years. It was a humbling experience to get a personal tour through this natural ecosystem...More

See yanacocha. If the kind owner of the colibri hostal didn't tell me,I'd have missed this great zoo,and the lovely grounds. The residents include wooley and spider monkeys,parrots,turtle,ocelot.. Nice walking trails, clean, and very low cost entry. If you love animals, take a look at Yanacocha.

You can tell the owner really loves what he does. He takes the time to explain and show things. His mini magnifying glass can highlight unbelievable things.

A bastion of conservation and knowledge in puyo. A short distance in taxi or bus from the centre of town. Lovely orquids and butterflies.

Owner Omar Taeyu was so kind and passionate about the botanical garden. He even helped us fix our broken bike! Tour is in Spanish. Get to see all types of flora and fauna and I definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area.
