At the parking lot they said it would take about 3 to 4 hours (600 huf/hour). We followed the red route and joined the blue up the steps. Then came down the other side by the blue route. It too about 90 minutes. Great views from the top. Worth every step

Found an amazing house on the hill, and the we started the trip from there, and walk around the whole mountain. It was amazing view to Balaton and to the whole Káli-medence.

Northern side of lake Balaton is full with very very old, inactive volcanoes - on some of the you can climb up by trkking route - receommended only if weather is not heating - there are serveral hikking routes and walk-arounds, pending on your condition.
Orientation maps help you finding correct direction

Definitely recommend riding around the Romai Ut of Badacsony and visiting the odd cellar along the way. Very scenic and worth the effort.

We walked to the top of this no longer active volcano and found the nature on the walk was wonderful and then at the top the views are magnificent of the surrounding valley and across the lake. Well worth the effort and once at the top we were also blessed to have such a peaceful time to enjoy the views alone.

The Badacsony is the highest witness-hill in Tapolca-basin. It's part of Balaton Uplands National Park, Hungary. The mountain has almost circular perimeter of 11 km, the roof's height is 1-1.5 km in diameter, the highest point above sea level 437.4 m. To the "mountain's skirts" (above Kisfaludy ház) you can drive up, but if you want a challange, start from the Lake... The most well developed hiking trails are on this mountain in the area. Take min. 3-4 hours for this, but if you have time, take a look at Szent György-hegy at Hegymagas, Csobánc at Tapolca-Diszel, Tóti-hegy at Káptalantóti, Hegyesd, and Hegyestű at Monoszló as well.
In autumn is the best.

If you are in Badacsony and have some spare hours, a walking tour to volcano valley will show you some beautiful views of the lake Balaton and its wavy shores.
From the train station of Badacsony it will take you about 20-25 min.to reach the restaurant named Kisfaludy Ház Étterem, which is the starting point of the trip. If you arrive be car, head over there and park (for 200ft/h).
The volcano valley route starts by climbing the steps for 20-30 min. with welcome pauses for looking out some beautiful views of the lake and taking some pictures.
The valley itself is relatively flat. There are several walking routes signed, but it's worth just to hang out along the valley and enjoy a nice first, fresh air and natural silence broken with the birds singing. You will find a looking out tower to show you beautiful views around the valley, which are either the lake or some other volcanic hills.
Beware of mosquitoes as they attack you as soon as you stop. I'm not sure they care about the protective measures you take - they just eat you, mostly in legs. The best thing I could do is take some beach with leaves and use it as a tail.
This tie is definitely valley burning, for all the climbing and walking that you do, so take reasonable amounts of water with you. And the most important thing - enjoy the nature.

I saw other reviews for this attraction and we used free afternoon to visit this place. From fare it looks majestic. Start Rout described here is wrong. I strongly suggest to visit Badacsony info place where you will get a map which will guide you on the hill. Starting point and parking in place called Kikőtő. You will have to pay for parking place.
Then first 10 - 15 minutes are steps a lot of them. Then there is a wood walk. We walked almost all routes on the hill and took us good 2 hours (with 4 year old son). Be aware there are a Million Moskitos that are waiting for you. If you stop just for a 10s you will know what I'm talking about. Use protection.
Otherwise I recommend this walk also if it is sunny almost entire route goes trough woods.

This was a fun hike (maybe 1.5 hours) up to an observation tower. Seeing all the surrounding mountains from the tower was cool.

We walked up to the summit, and around the side, as a rest from cycling round Lake Balaton. We had a beautiful day, and from the lookout tower on the summit, one can see all round the area, including the other volcanic hills.
