October visit - detour on the way south. Not worth the time it took to get there, although the beach was deserted. Still had to pay to access.

We drove past this place on the way to Antalya and it was the highlight of our road trip. We ended up staying in town for one night and had the opportunity of watching a wedding celebration at the centre square.

nice lake, nice landscape, a lot of restaurants near by. Ideal for a stop by if on your way as it doesn't anything special compared to other lakes/mountains etc. Nothing more than that.

Definitely overrated! We wouldn't drive 200 km to see that if we new what we'll experince. Ok if you pass by it, otherwise....
First of all, beside colour of the water (which is nice) everything else is quite poor. Cold water (beginning of July), dirty sand all around, depth is not more than 50-60 cm. I wouldn't dare to use "Maldive" name for this.

The water was so cold. But the view was beautiful. You might sink in the white sand till your knee in the first 5 meteres but it is OK afterwards.

Salda Gölü is a lake located in Burdur, Turkey. They call this place the Turkish Maldives because of the white sand and the crystal clear water , local people call it the Saldives.

The overall attraction is the scenery with the white sand and the different shades of blue in the water, which is rich in magnesium sulphate. It’s a must to take your camera gear for some memories. I recommend to take sandals to because of the harsh gravelly sand. The lake is surrounded by mountains and there is just one village around, that’s why the lake is very clean.

Near to the lake there are some good cafes and restaurants with friendly local people. Most restaurants are self service and don’t cost that much. I sat inside a nice restaurant, with really big windows and we could see the whole lake next by. The staff doesn’t speak English but they will find a way to communicate with you.

If you aren’t scared of heights and like to relax with a great view, then you should do some paragliding above the deep blue lake with it’s beautiful white sand. I didn’t do It because I was scared of heights then.

Salda Gölü is one of the best places in Turkey you can visit, in my opinion. But I do recommend to visit the place in the summer if you don’t want to have it too cold or windy. If you want to have fun with family or friends, then I do recommend to visit the Saldives.

This lake amazes me with its clear water and scenery, was a experience and a tick off my travel list, I would advise don’t take a day trip, rather sleep overnight
