The sun sets and sun rises are very beautiful. Out of season it is very relaxed and there are many attractions in the area. The dam needs to be cleared of growth and debris but the rates paid by the rate payers seem to be spent elsewhere.

The area is filled with curio shops, restaurants and the beautiful dam of course. The dam has a total capacity of about 195,000,000 m3, a catchment area of about 4 120 km2 and a total surface area of about 2 062.8 ha. There are mountains, dam wildlife and so much greenery everywhere. Really beautiful views, a great place to take... More

From seeing it dry and seeing it when it overflows is amazing. It is as if the plants and animals know when it is good season. The magical hills/mountains with the waterfalls. The trees. The sound of the waters is calming. Look for a resort close to the river to experience the tranquility of this amazing wonder in flood.

Apr 24: We have been here earlier and we couldn't find it. The directions from google maps and even from tripadvisor don’t take you to the dam. We were wiser from last time when we saw the dam sign when going to the Aerial cableway. Hence, this time reached the dam but it was quite a let down as there... More

Always great to drive over the bridge, especially when the sluices are open - hawkers very persuasive with their products.

Worth to see if you are in the area. We drove around the dam and stop for spectacular views. It is also a nice outdoor activity.

This dam started life in the first few years of the 1900s, it is a spectacle that has to be visited, when all of the gates are opened (Which I was lucky enough to see) then it certainly is a sight, the area is certainly beautiful and a walk over this dam will have you reaching for your cameras, the... Always a lovely outing. Especially great since we have been fortunate with the good rainfall. Holiday feeling wherever you are. Lots of locals and tourist.

The grey rain laden skies on Christmas Day could not spoil our cruise on the dam on Harties Boat Company's "Prime Time" boat with the family. Beautiful 360 degree views from any point on the dam including the Magalies mountain range and the houses perched on the slopes between the lush green vegetation and the sumptous lunch prepared and served... It was an experience of a lifetime as I had never been in a boat. The cruise was excellent and great family outing.
