It was a sunny day, so perfect to wander around the small flower/herb garden. We ordered matcha and sat on the tatami looking out over the pond - the only two people there. It was idyllic.

Or, the Royal Garden of the Aizu Matsudaira. This traditional garden is also a botanical herb garden where medicinal herbs have been cultivated since the latter half of the 17th century.

An attractive, small provincial garden with an unusual herb section to the garden. Despite showing some signs of lack of maintenance this is a pleasant way to spend an hour or so while in Aziu.

Oyakuen is a combination of traditional Japanese garden and a medicinal herb garden. It is on the Tourist Loop Bus route and worth a very tranquil visit.

A beautiful garden with lovely views across the water. Very well maintained and despite the surrounding buildings has a sense of peace.
