We used Wilson's water taxi's to get us to our starting point & we spent 2.5 days hiking in the National Park which it was fantastic. We stayed in the Department of Conservation huts - Anchorage and Bark Bay which are basic but clean and comfortable. You do need to plan well in advance especially if you want to stay... More

Take a shared taxi from Nelson to Marahau ,( which you can arrange to pick you up later) Wilsons boats are an ideal company to take you along to various places along the able tasman coast ,you can get off and on in various stops also, the boat goes up to golden bay then turns back, getting off at Awaroa... We just did a day trip by water taxi into anchorage bay and walking out to marahau. Water taxi was a highlight, wasn't expecting small sight seeing such as split apple rock and Adelle Island, etc. Pretty easy walk out, had lunch and swim at a gorgeous beach. Took us about 4 hrs of walking + 45 min water taxi.... More

Well maintained walkways through the national park following the coast mainly, and passing beautiful beaches and bush land. Accommodation is available in Department of Conservation huts or through Wilsons Abel Tasman Walks in private accommodation. Some hills to climb which are short and sharp at times, but no more than 100 - 120m in elevation along the coast. There is... More

This track attracts a LOT of tourists, so it's certainly not a walk to do if you're looking for solitude. There's a constant stream of tourists, and even though you're walking in wilderness area, the amount of people and water taxis does make it feel over-commercialized at times. However it is lovely to take a water taxi to one of... More

Walked the Coastal Trail, Anchorage Bay through to Wainui Bay in January 2016. Reservations at the Anchorage Bay hut were fully booked when we scheduled, so we skipped the Marahau to Anchorage Bay leg and took a water taxi to Anchorage Bay, where we started our hike. We were disappointed we had to do this at first, but we realized... More

The Abel Tasman Coastal Track is a must when visiting the South Island of NZ. My favourite part of the walk was the Cleopatra Pools, a 10 minute side trip off the main track. Would highly recommend climbing over the rocks and braving the cold water for a quick swim.
