Arduaine is a wonderfully moist and mossy coastal garden, influenced beneficially by the North Atlantic Drift and enjoyed by enthusiasts from all over the world. Twenty acres of outstanding woodland plants include not only a major rhododendron species collection with a leaning towards the more tender, but also all the usual spring-flowering favourites such as camellia, pieris, azalea and magnolia. Other trees and shrubs take the flowering season on into the autumn along with an inspiring miscellany of bulbs, perennials, climbers, water plants and ferns, many rare and unusual, many down to earth and familiar, all interesting and beautiful in their diverse ways. A spectacular coastal and island panorama can be enjoyed from the easily accessible cliff top viewpoint. Visitors are welcome every day and will find something of interest throughout the year, come rain or shine.

I have visited Arduaine Garden many times, but more recently I took a London friend of mine along so that he could see the red squirrels, and we weren't disappointed. Thanks to the gardeners and volunteers placing feeding boxes on some of the trees near the public paths, we were able to enjoy five squirrels playing, fighting and feeding. It... More

Lovely Autumn colours. Well worth a visit. Easy walk to the gardens from Loch Melfort Hotel. Book a meal in the wonderful restaurant or bistro following your visit.

After visiting Oban, drove down the coast to see what was there. Found this little NTS garden. If you have an hour or two to spare, you could do worse. The garden is lovely and well tended and the views out to Loch Melfort are stunning.

Wow - so glad we stopped here. It was a rainy and blustery day, but the garden calmed our souls and we completely forgot about the weather. There are so many amazing microcosms in a relatively small space that is designed to feel enormous. You walk from one vignette to another and feel like you are changing ecosystems and even... More

This was our first visit to this garden and we were pleasantly surprised by the variety of plants and shrubs. We also loved the fact that our dog was allowed to accompany us - otherwise we would have been unable to take in this well tended garden.

Stopped off here en route to Oban and I was blown away by the beautiful gardens. The colours and scents were inviting and relaxing. Brilliant viewpoint with information stand telling you what each landmark is. Useful guides beside benches telling you what was planted where and why. Donations towards the national trust are welcomed and I was proud to pop... More

this garden is very attractively laid out with many varied plants and trees but would be stunning in the Spring.

Wonderfully mature woodland garden just as nature intended just 35 minutes from Oban combining a natural idyllic oasis for wildlife with numerous paths guiding you through beautiful flower borders and well signposted walks leading through the trees to the stunningly beautiful sea loch vistas .Fantastic day out made all the more enjoyable as they allow dogs on leads.Highly recommend visit... We stopped off at lunchtime to have a look around the garden and have some lunch at the hotel, when we walked down to the garden entrance we stopped to read the sign about the work going on within the gardens to eradicate fungus. Before we could get in the door we were challenged rudely by a female member off... More

I am very sorry to hear that you did not visit Arduaine on this occasion. Arduaine Garden is unfortunately infected with Phytophthora ramorum and, as I’m sure you will appreciate, it is very important that we protect others from infection through stringent biosecurity arrangements. Our staff are very passionate about this, and I sincerely apologise if on this occasion this... More

Very interesting gardens with different walks - short or long - and various areas to see eg ponds/borders/woodland. Well worth a visit.
