Best white sand beach, soft powdery sand, no stones or pebbles in sight
Beach opp Safari Beach Hotel is finest. Enjoyed walking barefeet on soft white sand. During low tide, wear wet shoes to enter water to avoid jellyfish. Check Tides as some tides are quite strong. Hawkers do approach you to buy crafts, Diani is struggling for tourists right now, so we just bought to support the local crafts people.

    Beautiful and Clean beach
Leopard Beach resort has staff that assist with ordering of food and drinks while your relaxing by the beach. People who sell or offer activities around Diani are expensive. I suggest you go to the local market

Mercy's massage, Diani Beach (adjacent to the Baobab Resort)
Had three massages with Mercy. Mercy is located at the top of the market next to the Baobab Restort. Walk up from the beach and you will see Mercy's massage hut (with her name on it). The massages were very relaxing and Mercy was very accommodating and reasonably priced - highly recommended experience.

    Absolutely amazing hotel!
My husband and I are traveling on our honeymoon and absolutely loved this hotel. They mention "understated elegance" in their marketing materials and it's absolutely true. From our prompt airport pickup, check-in, meals, and everything in between we absolutely loved our stay here. The rooms are large and nicely appointed with strong A/C, comfortable bedding and bug nets. The bathroom was very lovely and the tub was such a treat! While you may be worried about the buffet, the food was so delicious every night and you have so many options, including a fresh grill of fish, meat or vegetables of some kind each night. Most importantly, the staff is just so amazing. Everyone was incredibly kind, helpful and warm. Truly every single person! We hope to be back one day.

So, you’ve found yourself in Diani Beach for 48 hours!

The Kenyan south coast is a bucket list destination. Chances are if you ever travel, you’ll end up in Diani Beach – voted Africa’s leading beach destination for the fifth time running since 2015. While Diani is laced with the usual tourist trails, it is still easy to get away with some quirky activities to brighten your day.

Where to stay

Diani has gorgeous hotels. The best choice of accommodation would be a bed and breakfast on Diani Beach Road as you’ll be close enough to the action. Flamboyant Bed and Breakfast is a nice option to consider. If you are on a bit of a budget, backpacker hostels are your best bets. Check out Stilts Backpackers or Diani Backpackers.

Getting around

And when it comes to getting around, Diani Beach is powered by tuk-tuks (bajaj). For shorter distances, use boda-bodas (motorcycle taxi). Always carry small change with you. Tuk-tuks will part you from as little as Kshs 30 for shorter distances while boda-bodas charge from Kshs 50 for shorter distances. Some accept mobile payment but we always advise on carrying small change. None will accept any card payment.

You can also rent a bicycle, a motorcycle or a scooter from Diani Beach Vehicle Rentals. (Call or Whatsapp +254 768333333).

Day 1

Morning A good day in Diani naturally starts on the beach. Nothing beats that morning dip into the Indian Ocean and later that walk as you enjoy the long stretch of white sand.

Lunch

Located between Kaskazi Beach Resort and The Bazaar on Diani Beach Road (check out for the bamboo sign), Tribearth Vegan Café features Injera, Ethiopia’s revered staple which is offered here daily from Wednesday to Saturday.

Afternoon

I have heard about this idea some friends who came to Diani Beach had. If the weather’s nice, hire a camel on the beach and go to every beach bar. For every beach bar you stop at, you must take a shot of their best cocktails.

Evening

Estuary Beach Lounge is a great spot right on Diani Beach to watch the sun go down. Get on board Mzee Ali’s wooden boat and sail up the Kongo River tributary for the perfect sunset view.

Dinner

Ali Barbour’s Cave Restaurant is definitely on any traveler’s list passing by Diani. Get to see the stars and moon through an open cave ceiling while you enjoy a good glass of wine and an excellent platter of seafood.

Day two

Breakfast

The guys at Kokkos Cafe Bistro know how to do a good breakfast no matter what you are craving. Try their morning glory combo!

Lunch and Afternoon

After breakfast you are ready to explore your final day. A visit to Wasini Island makes a great day trip. You will enjoy watching the dolphins, hopefully spot a humpback whale on migration, snorkeling and a sumptuous lunch prepared by the locals. The owners of Pilli-Pipa, Harm and Selina, will make your Wasini day trip worth it.

Evening

On your drive back from Wasini, make a stop at the Gazi Women Mangrove BoardWalk. The mangrove boardwalk is a community project led by women and funded by the City Council of Overije (Belgium) and International Ocean Institute (IOI). It is a 300 m long relaxing walk through animal rich mangrove forest. It is punctuated with a cool resting point, it also has a view point providing a panoramic view of the bathing Mangroves.

Gazi has some of the most beautiful palm boulevard sunsets. Catch the sunset from that perspective as you drive back to Diani Beach. Before you turn in for the night, head to Salty Squid Beach Bar for a few drinks.

And that concludes your 48 hours in Diani Beach.

Beautiful white sand, pristine waters. This beach deserves a five star rating. When it comes to the best beaches i can truly recommend diani as the top 5 beaches. However its annoying and impossible to chill on the beach without being harrassed by some local vendors who are selling everything to you,The best thing is to tell them asante or they will follow you all the time.It was a bit annoying for us and decided to book all our tours through a local agency jafardianitours +254710239929,Very proffesional through whatsaap and great services on ground.try to do your tours with a registred proffesional company. Our hotel was right telling us to avoid booking our escurtions with the beach walkers.

This really is an outstanding beach. Soft white sand, clean water and very little rubbish.

High tides bring sea weed and sea grass but normally it’s just pure white sand.
