There is a wide, mostly flat trail that takes you from the gate to the Ottawa River. An easy walk, but a walk that is about 5 km. from the gate to the river. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy it by the river. If you like birding, there are birds. And if you like mushrooms, there are mushrooms. Does... More

I finally had an afternoon (Oct 4) to explore and decided to walk through the park to see the beach and marsh areas. It was a bit further to walk than expected but the path was easy going. I was surprised at the lack of wildlife sign but did see some muskrats and young beavers and a great diversity of... More

I wish I found the Westmeath Provincial Park sooner! It is a hidden gem in the little area of the whitewater region. This provincial park has no services/facilities on site, but is great for hiking and swimming. The gravel trails are fairly wide, but may not be level enough to be accessible. It is a lot of fun to bring... More

Our family cottage is down the beach from this park. We love going there any time of year. We walk in along the beach it's a great day out for us no matter what the weather. The beach is really shallow in the summer only ankle deep for a very far distance so great for little kids.

We love this park. Although it is not open, you can still take a walk down the old access road (and if you are adventurous, you can reach the beach - but it is quite a hike!). My recommendation is to walk at least until you get to the flooded maple swamp. It's so beautiful. In the Spring you will... More

My husband and I have been coming to the area for years and finally decided we needed to walk in the park. It is definitely a walking or bike ride path in. Took us about 45 minutes. Motor vehicles are not allowed. It is a beautiful and serene walk. You come out to a beach at the end. Living in... More

As it was too cold for the beach at Westmeath Provincial Parlk (which is supposed to be awesome!), we stopped at the lookout point not far from the park. Wonderful view of the valley and my kids loved the shortness of the "hike" up to the lookout (about 200m). Everyone was happy!
