We had a lovely visit to this palace after a Sunday drive from the western end of Lake Ballaton. A major focus of the palace is the beautiful, troubled Elizabeth, the penultimate Empress of Austria who was also known as “Sissi”. We purchased the English...More

You can take the train but we went with Gabriella's private tours (Gabby is a great guide). Well worth a trip out of Budapest to see Sissi's favourite palace. Franz Joseph wasn't so keen on it (and I always preferred him of the two of...More

The building was left in total ruins in 1989 when the Soviets left Hungary. It took decades to rebuild and renovate in to its current state. You will get a valuable insight into the historic period of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. Definitely worth a visit.

The reconstruction of the palace was very good decision. Every room looks now amazing. It is interesting not only for Sissi " loverss" , but also for architecture fans.

It is a must if you are in Gödöllő. Visit the exhibition in the Palace, experience the atmosphere of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, take a walk in beautiful park and enjoy a good coffee or cake in the café.

The Palace is fairly small and rooms not that large. The fact very apparent with multiple tours going through. Ended the tour in the confectionary with traditional Hungarian cake and coffee. Short time to see grounds and no time in museum gift shop. Our private...More
