The newer of two bridges crossing the Irrawaddy at Sagaing, built in 2005, this bridge is more functional than decorative. From it, however, you get a great view of the river with all of its boats, Sagaing Hill with all of its many stupas and the surrounding area with many more beautiful stupas. If possible, go at sunset.

The bridges over the river are massive - they need to be. The other bridges on the river cruise are equally impressive and some date back to Colonial times

Spent 14 nights cruising slowly down the river on RV Princess Panhwar, a small ship operated by TravelMarvel launched in January 2016. Absolutely great time with lots of shore excursions, good food and super crew under Captain Ton Ton. First class local guides who really knew their stuff under Tom's leadership. Thoroughly recommended as an adventure

What I liked most about the bridge is that it is not a very busy bridge. It has its own charm and peacefulness standing gracefully over the calm Irrawaddy river of Myanmar.

Suppose if you haven't seen a long steel bridge over a wide river you could be excited? But don't cause a traffic jam on a busy road!

Spanning the Irrawaddy river, at 610 meters, this is quite and impressive structure, our driver for the day just stopped in the traffic, for some piccies, felt strange at first however we weren't the only car, to do so, so. On our cruise from Mandalay to Bagan, we also got to go under her. even more impressive from the water.

This is a good, functional, modern bridge that crosses the Irrawaddy. To me is relevant to mention it as from the opposite side of the bridge, you will get the best pictures of the Sagaing hill!

Built by a Chinese company, completed in 2008 finally this new bridge over the Irrawaddy river helped ease the congestion of traffic on the old narrow Ava (Inwa) bridge. There is a four-lane highway and pedestrian zones on both sides. Bicycles and motorbikes are allowed to use the highway.Trains still use the old bridge.
Locals are happy and proud, as the 1 km long bridge is essential for the economic development of the region. Tourists like the views.
Not to be confused with another bridge over the Irrawaddy about 100 km to the north. On Google maps this Irrawaddy bridge is also called Yadanatheinga.
