After paying the park fee and the camera fee for two people 1100 kyat, the view of the Shwedagon paya was very nice from the park around the lake and the afternoon light showed off the Paya very well. The board walk near the main gate was a good place for viewing and photography. Wanting to circumnavigate the lake on the boardwalk past the gate area took on a more dare devil appeal as you walk along the Southern side back toward down town. The timber planks were rotting , ill repaired, not securely fastened and on the whole in fairly poor condition. So much so that there was more concentration on where to tread so as not to fall through or trip on slats laid over the top of existing beams. This was not an enjoyable walk in what should have been a beautiful walk over the water. We were happy to see and feel terra firma. A really lovely experience spoilt. If your game and in for a potential unwanted injury or swim, take the boardwalk. If not then give the boardwalk a miss. A new one is being built but the current one is just appalling.

visit this last month and found the boardwalk had some bumpy and wobbly part, it was quite challenge path for young people. The stunning sunset will be long memorial on my mind.
