Nice place to visit with family. when we visited it at that time dam water level was lowest so we could visit Shahu maharaj palace just by walking..

We visited in April-May 2016 - the summer of a drought year!! The water levels were very depleted. Would be more scenic and enjoyable in the later months of Monsoon.

Try to visit in end-monsoon. Completely filled up. Also, try to visit Rautwadi falls near this dam. Going forward to dajipur will give you some different experience. If you are lucky can see Indian Gaur (I was lucky). Remember most of the sanctuaries are closed...More

One can have a look from distance but no one is allowed inside due to security reasons , kolahpur tourism can do proactive job by informing the visitors about this in advance , I did not find any appreciable job by Maharashtra Tourism in this...More

There are good scenic beauty. At waterholes nearby you can see bisons in the afternoon. You can marvel the automatic gates if dam which adjust depending in water level. Particularly interesting to engineering student who will wonder this mechanism in a dam built 100 yrs...More

Built by the Great Shahu Maharaj (King of Kolhapur) it is a very old dam. It has automatic door opening for the water outflow. It is based on the level of water present in the dam. Great One...
