This is one of the nicest beach in the Udupi District. The lighthouse built in the early 1900s is the star attraction. Sand is white and the beach is kept clean.
There are benches to sit on facing the sea. Food stalls and toilet facilities are available.
It is better to park your vehicle at the first paid parking area before the main entrance than at parking spot at the main entrance as it is very difficult to take your vehicle when the crowds come in the evening.
Beautiful sunset while playing in the seawater was threaputic. We will definitely visit it again.

This is an absolutely wonderful beach for spending time. The beach here is very clean. Also there is a tall lighthouse here. We can visit the top of the lighthouse with a very small entry fee. The view from the top of the lighthouse is just amazing. The lighthouse is constructed on a group of rocks which are at a high level from the sea level

We drove from Udupi to Kapu Beach with 5 adults and 3 kids. Beach is nice and clean. ENough stalls selling juice, ice cream, chips, snacks, etc.
There is a place to take shower but isn't sufficient if the beach gets crowded. plz carry your own soap and shampoo. Also, the shower area is not paved. SO legs become sandy, the moment u come out.
paid parking is available near the beach, but it can get crowded on weekends/holidays.
There is a light house, but we did not climb on it.
TIP
Consider visiting the Kapu Temple at the intersection of the beach road and National Highway.
lifeguards are available. pl follow their instructions.
COmmon place to spot our favourite stars, incase there is a shoot going on.

Kapu light house adds the spice to the looks of Kapu beach. It is relatively a nice and clean beach. Plan to visit during sunset as the view is mesmerizing. You can visit with family. However you need to climb up to the light house through stairs and might be difficult for old people or someone with disabilities. If you are staying in city limits, it may take 20-30 mins to reach the beach. The sunset happens around 6:30 PM in the month of Feb so plan accordingly.

What an enthrilling, spectacular & an eye feasting experience one can get on the top of light house. I can still remember the view (attached pics) land on one side covered with coconut trees, beach and the water on the other end till.you can see.
The best time to visit is from 5.30PM to 6.30PM when going to set and I bet cameras can't capture the real nature except you have to feel it.
The fees is a mere 10/- per person and w0/- per video recording.

Kaup or Kapu beach is primarily the beach with the lighthouse as the main attractions along with the clean sands and big rocks. Currently , due to Covid -19 situation, the entry inside the lighthouse is not allowed. However , one can climb the rocks till the base of the lighthouse. Decent beach. You can play in the waters but do not go deeper inside . I recommend to just play within 10 mtrs or even less.
Also, the entrance to the beach has eatery stores available, one can have evening snack and relax.

This beach is a little far (12-15 KM) from the town of Udupi but is very popular for it's light-house and the view from top of it.
If you are planning to visit this beach then you should plan to visit in the evening as the lighthouse is open only between 5 and 6.30 PM. The stairs which take you to the top are narrow, so avoid going there with kids. You get a panoramic view from the top with beach on one side, a queue of fishermen boats on another side, sea on third side and palm trees and backwater on fourth side. It is just amazing especially during sunset.
It is not a beach which is known for swimming or water sports as the currants can be dangerous but if like a walk alongside beach or would like to sit on beach rocks, then this is a perfect one. Collect shells as there are many but be careful of the crabs.
There are good food stalls near the beach where you can enjoy your evening snacks. Try the hot potato rings and I am sure you will like it.

I stayed on Malpe beach and took an auto from there to visit Kapu beach.40 kms to and fro distance with 1 hour waiting.paid rs 600 to Auto. The journey through village is perfect with boats, beaches and love scenery throughout the ride.worth every bit of it.
The beach should be visited after 4pm when sun goes down a bit.It is very well maintained and amazingly clean beach.Kapu Lighthouse closed since last 1 year due to Covid. But the view from beneath the lighthouse is breath taking.Small eateries serving chats, cold drinks, water and sea food available there.Take some nice instagram and facebooks shots. You will cherish that gor ever.

South of Udupi town, easy to reach. Natural beauty of the rocks. The lighthouse adds to the beauty. It is on a big rock. Area around the lighthouse is properly surrounded by railing so that you can get nice view without going up the lighthouse.
Good facility for parking & toilet. Must visit place around sunset time.

A beautiful place that brings back memories! The lighthouse is on a rock that has steps but no walkway from the beach apart from a few rocks that one has to climb onto. Also the lighthouse is closed for public, meaning one can’t go it at all. A couple of decades ago one could go to the top and get a mesmerising view of the beach.
The beach here is a bit rough so one has to be a bit careful while playing in the waters.
Nothing much to see here at this beach. There are a few stalls that sell food items. When we were there a few dead fishes were washed up ashore!
Lighthouse is the attraction here.

Can we bathe in the sea in the month of June or is it banned due to monsoons?
Written 4 June 2019
Its a rule which is imposed by govt for safety, walking in water can be done, but bathing may invite vigilance or may not as well. Its just a matter of your luck. May be on clear days you may not find any issues.

Is this accessible by people who can't walk much? Is it baby safe?
Written 3 February 2019
is rocky & the highlight is the lighthouse which you cannot climb with a baby.
I did not see lifeguards - if you just want to walk & enjoy the soft sands / scenery, it should be fine.
